Storm installs and uses Java. I discovered this a while ago...

Normally if I use Storm, I use it as a Rewire device in SX where it works much better. I however wanted to watch NASCAR while fiddling with Storm on the laptop, so I used it as a standalone (cause I have my SX dongle in a USB hub).

When dragging an item around the screen, the screen does not refresh - so eventually composing anything becomes quite cumbersome. :tantrum: No wonder I hardly ever use it.

So my question is, is there a way to refresh the screen in a standalone java application? I think this would fix my issues...

Oh my God! Really a JAVA app? For a realtime audio application (even if it is only the GUI, which uses JAVA)?

What a f**king bad idea!

On normal Windows it helps to minimize and then maximize the window. But it is quite cumbersome to perform that all the time ...

...Yea, and they don't use a modern JRE. I discovered this a while back when I decided to delete old Java installs and just use the most current form of Java (which I installed for a wicked waveform analysis program). Then one day I tried to fire up Storm and the software stated that it couldn't find JRE and asked me to do a reinstall. ...Anyway, that's how I discovered it used Java.

I've already tried the minimize/maximize thing, but it didn't work. If compsing normally, the problem doesn't usually present itself. It usually happens when using their Composition Assistant, which could be one of the fun things in Storm (if I could ever get more than halfway through an assistant).

So I fear, you have to bring back that old JRE.

...well, i've got both. Storm actually installs the old one. ...i'm just wondering if there's some Java application or function to refresh the screen.

grab the JAR.. unzip.. decompile with JAD.. find the appropriate window object and rewrite it so it works.. recompile... remake the jar... replace old jar with new ;)
