Not really thick, but not too thin either. I've never heard anyone complain about its size - it's really short BTW. If I remember correctly, they've even reduced the size of its heatsink compared to the early cards, so that would make things even easier for you.

I am going to put my question here... so I can get the powercore elements and UAD-1 project pak for the same price. Which should I choose? Powercore elements seems to be dicontinued though... but it does include more plugins than the project pak.

The plugs included with the Element are, IMHO, a better bundle than the Project Pak.

it's a hard decision - i decided myself for the UAD-1 - i don't regret it
but i'm thinking of buying an Powercore too

verstaerker,
I was in similar situation as you. Had a UAD1, heard about great Masterverb and ClassicVerb on Powercore, finally got Powercore Firewire, and now I got a pretty blue light in my studio. After few weeks I got second UAD1 (Project Pack) and ... almost all the UAD1 plugins. I'm also enjoying pretty blue light on my Powercore and the plugins I use very occasionally, very...
But every now and than I need another compressor or EQ, and that's when the PoCo steps in. It would be more worth it for me if I had the money to get the Sony plugs for it, but now I'm just happy with all the UAD1 plugs.

or maybe not - and save the money for the UAD-plugins
i don't have yet

What do you think of the fact that elements has been discontinued? Maby Project pak is more reliable in that case since it will get support for sure. Maby UA is releasing new cards too? Like poco has done mith MKII.

I e-mailed both companies with a bunch of technical questions, mainly compatability issues and a lot of questions about latency (I like playing live)
I got very good and to the point answers from both companies.
I liked much more what UA had to say thou.

Cards will be replaced eventually like anything else in this life but it doesn't look like anytime soon.
