information from Cevin Key himself about the new DVD!
we just wrapped up production on the new DVD for SPV called The greater wrong of the right LIVE. Directed by Bill Morrison. It is a collaboration between XYZ films in Canada and SPV Germany. 2 disks include the complete live show with encores in 5.1 or Stereo. Extras include live footage from Too Dark Park, Last Rights and 2 documentarys. One documenting the 1988 European tour shot by the band. Sleeve design by Steven Gilmore and Fodor. The show was mixed by Ken Hiwatt Marshall who will also join the band live mixing the European dates of the 2005 Greater right of the wrong Euro tour starting in August. Dates will soon be announced for this but we can announce the confirmation of Mera-Luna in Germany.

Cool, that's something I'll definetly be buying.
You can watch a portion of the SLC, UT SP concert held on December 24th 2004 at my site until then. It's pretty distorted though, sound was clipped to hell, image was too dark for my $100 video cam. But it's somethin'.

Well, the dvd is one full concert from the latest tour if I'm not wrong.
AND they're working on a new album already.

I consider the latest album to be a total travesty. If they had changed the name, I might be a bit more able to forgive, but the new stuff has about zero impact with me. I hope that the new album will be better, but I won't hold my breath. Mark Walk is the worst producer on the planet at this point.origami wrote:Well, the dvd is one full concert from the latest tour if I'm not wrong.

I actually thought the new album was pretty good. I was shocked by the new direction, but still think they need to hire a decent mastering engineer. The sound is very modern stuttery...whatever.

I actually like the latest album a lot. Different opinions, sorry. I think it would have been absurd trying to sound like in the 80's since they have changed since then. I don't care about the name, Skinny Puppy or anyone else. music is music. I love their latest album actually, as I love Ohgr's albums.

I don't mind the first Ohgr album, although it wore off very quickly, but the second one left me cold. I listened to a few mp3 samples of the new Skinny Puppy and it had exactly the same effect. So far I haven't bought it but I know I'll get around to it.

I understand new Ohgr and SP material is not as aggressive as older stuff, but I find it very good both in technical and melody terms. You should give them some opportunity. New Puppy album is a bit more agressive than Ohgr, and there are actually some songs which remind me of Too Dark Park era.

I'm just sad they didn't push the more nonlinear aspects further - 'Last Rights' was headed in the right direction but they've been sounding pretty domesticated since - I get the impression that a lot of what's lacking at the moment is Dwayne's input - their listenable period begins and ends with his entry into the group and his rather untimely exit, and it can't be just coincidental.
