i found that its really easy to do with audio by clicking the top left corner of the bar and just draggin it for a fade out, but you cant do that with MIDI....

1) The top left "fade handle" is for fade-*INS*. The top right "fade handle" is for fade-outs

2) You can use automation to record MIDI, but using Cubase's fade-in/out is easier

I really dont think it's enough just say Cubase if you want help.

There arent any fade handles when you use MIDI...only Audio.

You're right! I meant that he should adjust the fade handles that are in the audio track that's recording the audio output of the MIDI instrument.

Use the Key Editor (midi editor)
Use the Line tool to produce a gentle fade up of the note velocities from the begining to the end of the part.
De-select the Line tool and exit the editor.
Your midi be fading in now.

EDIT: uuups. that was nonsense. I didn't read your post right.
A solution was to include a MIDI enabled master effect to fade outa and ina that entire music with a controller.

But I dunno, whether or what effect this actually can do...

Or if you have a sound where changing the velocity changes the character(filter cutoff set to vel etc.)draw in a controller pattern as shown above then change it to controller no.7 which is the "old school" master volume in midi instruments.

Or just use track automation (choose show automation by right clicking on channel, volume is shown by default then draw the curve required) or enable write automation and move the mixer fader by hand in realtime then enable read to hear it played back. Now edit as required.

That's really a nice idea, BUT fading the volume should work also. Use controller #007 (channel volume) then.

In SX to get midi fades in and out

1. Use volume automation in the key editor controller lane. (if the Midi device handles it)

2. Use the expression controller in the key editor controller lane.(if the Midi device handles it)

3. If driving VSTi's then use a volume fade on the audio channel of the VSTi automation lane.

4. Use velocity fades on the Midi data (key editor, logical editor )

5. Use volume automation on the automation lane of the Midi track.(if the Midi device handles it)

6. Use expresion controller automation on the automation lanes for the Midi track.(if the Midi device handles it)

7. Record the results of the midi data as audio and apply fades as automation, fade handles on audio events, volume events in audio parts, or as an offlne process.

8. If driving a VSTi, use the automation of the volume which may not be the same as using the VSTi channel volume.

The funny thing is that Magix Music Maker does have fade handles on MIDI Parts while Cubase SX doesn't. Heh, guess you need something advanced like MMM for such features, eh? ;)

the answer is yes. you just do it a different way. i think that's only to separate the ideas of audio vs. MIDI.
