I need help on a little thing driving me crazy...

I'm using a midi controller in CubaseSx... this seems to be a real advantage on programming vst and it's true... :)

but... I have some problem during recording-playback

For example... let's say I'm controlling a PRO53 vst with the controller. I choose a preset and I start recording a track... During recording I open the filter cutoff using the midi controller and the PRO53 obviously do that ...

but when I stop the recording the PRO53 still leave the filter in the last state (opened) so rewinding and playing the pro53 starts with the filter opened... and opens it more when reproducing my "knob movement".

So normally everytime I recall the preset to restore the vst knobs in the initial state... :x but this can be done if you have 1 or 2 vst playing... and I don't want to do it for every track... at every rewind...

Is there a right way to reset the vst knobs when rewinding... or similar?

ThanX in advance for helping

Yes! Just use the VST automation of the VSTi channel (with the Write knob and all) instead of recording MIDI on a MIDI track.

To clarify SX's features with regards to control of VSTi's, there are two main methods.

1. If the VSTi supports controller messages to set controls within the VSTi, then the MIDI controller messages may be recorded along with the note information, and the knobs will follow the recorded data.
On playback the controls will follow the current values for automation.

2. Automation. This can be drawn into automation lanes for the VSTi, written (in write automation mode) by moving knobs during play, or by using a remote control (GRC) device to emulate mouse movement of the knobs.
On playback the settings will follow the automation events written to the automation track (in read automation mode).

The GRC can cause confusion in that a controller message (for example CC 16) might move a knob on a VSTi if it is sent to the VSTi directly, but could change another control if used as a control message within the Generic remote setup.

For this reason, I tend to use one or the other method, depending on the synth used, and what I am tryng to achieve.

Bas.
