RePhrase is a very similar GOOD tool. It is just more handy and a native VST plugin. Melodyne is also available as plugin.

You can check this site out, a collection of Islamic prayers (saw it linked in another thread from a while back). Hope that isn't seen as blasphemous to anybody.

Oh thanks. I am just ready with the first demo.
But I'll try to look at that.
Olso many thanks to Xoxos for supplying me with samples!

Here is a mixture of the formant shifting and (later in that sample) pitch shifting with varaying format adjustment:
We always get together and we do something obscene.
Please note, that there are some little artefarkts due to the fact, that we didn't implement parameter smoothing yet. We used the prototype of the realtime algorithm which has lower quality than the offline processor.
Now looking to that other stuff...

PSOLA don't work that good with wet voices. That lies in nature of the complex algorithm. Especially the internal pitch detection opcode.
Therefore I posted the request.
Because sampling CD's have usually merely wet samples of human voices. Thats quite different in an real studio situation. Pitch and formant shifters have to be applied to an absolutely dry material to work best or even satisfactory.
See Antares AutoTune and consorts...
But whom I'm telling that ? ...

Disappointing?
Well. Formant shifting is an really SUBTILE thing. (mostly
)
And you have to consider, that this (my exsample) is a kind of "static" formant shifting. That means, there is a constant amount of formant shifting applied to the entire frequency content of the voice.
Some of you may have expected a wonder or such similar things.
If you want to go into microsurgical details of voice editing, then you are probably best with Melodyne. There you have such editing possibilities.
Althought, we NEVER wanted to produce a formant shifter. It is merely a side effect for a pitch shifter which deliveres some acceptable results with decent amounts. That's good situable for a natural sounding Pitch correction for instance...
If you use it subtile, there are some astounding things possible, I think.
No, I actually know that.
With the offline effect is much better quality possible and allows additionally length modification up to half/double length with very good quality. Thus, pitch shifting, formant shifting and time stretching at same time.
But who cares, you oversaturated folks ?

The Waves pitch shifter has a formant slider and it is not a subtle effect when you slide it all the way. It will turn you from a martian (high formant) to a demon (low formants) without changing the pitch.

What about the RBC voice tweaker? I works quite well for me...
Btw I found this article on formants yesterday: http://www.dspdimension.com/data/html/f ... ction.html

Just listened those samples sound ace. I for one would love that as a plug in, but I'm already feeling spoiled enough with the FFT pitch plug you made.
Be warned that Xoxos may explode if you release a free formant shifter.

He's been looking for one for ages....
