Hey Koen...

a thread was started by rockstar_not in the tracktion forum about using KT Drumtrigger for converting beatboxing into drum patterns. I explored the idea and ended up with something that worked REALLY well imo. I ended up using 3 kTDrumTriggers inside Tracktions modular rack environment... with eq's placed before each instance so I could get better control over vocal trigger signals. It got me to thinking, how about having a KT DrumTrigger with a more modular approach.. That being, 3 inputs which feed into each individual channel. That way, it allows us to greatly fine tune the signals feeding each independent trigger channel. This would really rock hardcore!

in any case, any word would be great... I dunno if donations can be used as an incentive but I will be donating $40 regardless, as this contraption proves to be extremely useful to me as it stands... but if you can make a 3 input version as described I'll gladly throw in another $20 as a bonus. (I feel dirty for asking, but i love this thing) :hihi:

in any case... good stuff! here is a link to the beatbox->KTDrumTrigger demo I ended up making in the testing process... KTBeatBoxDemo

Wow ModuLR! That's a fabulous demo you have there! Mind if I put it on the KTDrumTrigger site as a demonstration of what can be done with the plugin (+ other tools you used)? I tried beatboxing myself too, which kinda worked (I'm not a beatboxer though), but your demo is really great!
As for the request: I think I really need to improve my filters so that separation is easier (if it's possible given the type of sounds you're using). There are also better techniques then simple filters I will look into later...
I can easily build an N-channel version, but I'll need to check how much work it is to make a multiple audio inputs version. Actually, I think I could make the N-channel version have 1+N separate audio inputs, and then let the user choose for each channel if he wants the audio to come from the first mixed audio input (like it is now), or directly from the corresponding audio input you made by external filtering (2 to N+1, where audio input 2 is then routed directly into channel 1) thus bypassing the internal filters. Now I just need to find some free time to actually do it (free time is very scarce at KT HQ these days...)
Thanks for the feedback!
Koen

Yes, feel free to add it to the site! :D It would be an honor... seriously I dunno how I ever missed this plug! In any case, the idea for a N-channel version sounds outstanding. Should you ever get the time to do it, post it in big neon ligthts! :) I'll be all over it!

Thanks for the rockin' plugin.. also check your paypal, you should receive something shortly! w00t! :D

Yeah, I have been using and loving this plug for some time and have even advised some people about using it for drum replacement and the like, so I guess it's time for me to show the love too. Thanks a bunch, Koen - another paypal coming your way.

Actually I am building my own drumpads, and I have tried several software. I managed to work some pads with velocity sensitivty using just a pair of headphones. Unfortunately I found out that KTDrumtrugger doesn't convert amplitude into velocities. The way I made it work used two PeakFreaks, one which translated gate into note info, and the other one which translated amplitude into velocity.

It would be so really nice to use just one plugin, only if KTDrumtrigger's velocity function worked...

Hi b1cho, KTDT should definitely convert amplitude into MIDI velocity (I know it works on my machine). Can you let me know which version you're using, take a screen shot of the GUI and send me the presets you're using + some example sound file (or any of these)? I would really like to know why you're not getting the correct behavior here... If you're using Bidule, a Bidule project would be nice too (I'm on Windows).
