The EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Gold Edition is on sale:

Should I wait for the PRO edition and what are the differences?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. But what is the Gold Pro exactly? I've read this page, http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/det ... =EW-160PRO, but I don't understand what the Pro is. Can I use it alone?

Post

No, gold pro is meant to supplement gold. Meaning that if you only get gold pro, you will be missing all of the gold patches

From the site: "The instruments and articulations that were not included in the original Gold Edition from the original Platinum Edition will be added to the GoldPro upgrade."

Does that mean that all of the instruments of the "old" platinum is also included in the gold pro? This is getting confusing.

Post

Yes it does, effectively Gold Pro is the old Platinum except, I don't think they're in 24 bit like the original platinum,
Now I'm confused,

I'm a plain old gold user by the way and the strings and brass are lovely.

I would love the upgrade, since it contains celeste marimba waterphone(i think) and LOADS of other goodies.

I've been using Gold for a while now and love it, I would love to get the pro upgrade but that will have to wait a while.

Gold Pro is the complete package, it contains everything Gold has plus so much more. The upgrade brings Gold up to the pro level but the upgrade cannot be used on it's own.

Gold Pro will have identical instruments and articulations to Platinum Pro except 1 mic location at 16 bit verses 3 mic locations each at 24 bit. This was not the case with the original Gold and Platinum.

My advice would be to pick up Gold now on special and add the pro upgrade at a later date, if you require it (the 30% upgrade discount is only available up until the Pro editions are released).

Gold Pro is not the old platinum, as far as I'm aware. Gold Pro is simply new articulations, instruments, and ensembles. Chromatic sampling and 16 bit. It covers all of Silver Pro as well. Platinum Pro would then cover all of Silver/Gold Pro, and be in 24-bit with the 3 mics.

Just to further clarify whats going on.

Gold PRO does *not* include all of the original Gold in it.

"PLEASE NOTE: The instruments and articulations that were not included in the original Gold Edition from the original Platinum Edition will be added to the GoldPro upgrade."

This was added because Gold does not actually contain all of the instruments/articulations that platinum did. In the Gold Pro upgrade they are adding these old instruments/articulations.

So, if you buy QLSO GOLD, you will get all the articulations listed here

http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/det ... sku=EW-160

If you buy Gold PRO, you will get all the articulations listed here

http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/det ... =EW-160PRO

+ all of the instruments / articulations that were in the original platinum release, but were left out of Gold (The Wagner Tuben for example)

Kind of tricky, but if you compare articulation lists, it will make sense.

So in order to get all 30 gigs of samples that GOLD + GOLD PRO will project you will need to do what format j said and buy both.

If it sounds good it is good.
