As we have quite different feedback from different users and KVR members, we are wondering if we should continue to construct our GUIs around bright colors such as in this one or this one or this one (more GUIs on http://software.bluecatonline.org ) or try a more 'classical' direction such as this or this (it's just examples).
More generally, do you prefer colorish GUI or more classical ('serious?'), grey-ish GUIs for your plug-ins? You can give examples to illustrate your opinion!

I voted for the classic GUI. Not so much against the bright colours, but some contrast between the moving parts and the static parts is very helpful. I don't care about pretty, I'm just interested in something that is easy to work with/look at for long periods of time.

Ironic that the 'classic' GUIs show more inventive use of colour than the colourful ones.
The colourful examples don't highlight anything. They just sort of blend into one (bar the second one). It's also quite difficult to read when the text is against a very strong colour. I had to really struggle to read the 'off' buttons in the second example.

In fact you mean that the background has to be as neutral as possible for you I presume.

Some Graphic desingers prefer to have a 30% grey background as it's the least visually taxing arrangment for viewing over a long period. If you GUI's can be looked at longer, they'll be used more often. I didn't buy your EQ's becuase the color schemes are extreme & very tiring to maintain focus on for me. I didn't mention it because it's my problem/choice, but since you asked, I've told you. Greyish GUI's are the biz, but I also like the Blue Tubes look alot as well. Dark greys and a light teal combined are excellent, like Buzzroom used for a few of his GUI's:

I voted for classic colours because sometimes I find bright GUIs to be a strain on the mince pies (eyes).
However, that wouldn't always stop me from using a plug if it sounded good, and so far, your plugs do sound very good.

Should also add that I don't really think it's a question of being serious. Serious doesn't have to equal dull. 
Don't forget that many people (including myself) have poor eyesight. 20/20 vision isn't as common as you'd think.

I personally find it really hard to read anything where the text is a lighter/darker version of the background. Gets a bit blurry.
