Hello all,
By the end of the summer I am finally going to be finishing the documentary I've ben working on, on and off, for three years now. It basically follows the opposition to George W. Bush from within Texas, both from inside the system (the Dean campaign & Democracy For America), and outside the system (protests in Crawford Texas & I followed a gang of protestors to NYC for the RNC protests). I am rotoscoping the final cut, meaning the finished product will be animated, in a style that is about half way in between sketch art and comic book art.
At any rate, I am funding this myself, er I mean my credit card company is funding it, and I have little to offer - outside of credit/copy & publicity for your participation, still I was wondering if anyone would be interested in donating the non-exclusive use (for sync use) of one or more of your already completed & recorded songs. I will cut picture around the song, instead of asking vice versa, so if you have completed songs you're not using, you're already done with all the work, unless you personally want to polish your song further.
As far as style, anything goes, the weirder the better, and all lengths & arrangements are usable. Only thing I ask is that you indicate what tempo & time signature you're mainly using, that is, if your song lends itself to that classification. Thank you in advance if you would consider doing this, I will use your song with care & make you glad you participated. Again, no need to write something specific for this, just scour your unused material for that piece you like but have no use for....that is unless you get inspired to write something specific, in which case, knock yourself out.
PM me if interested, again THANKS!!!
Todd

Lady J has put up an interesting tune with some George W speeches all cut up. Its drum n bass, and you can hear it in the instruments forum in a thread called something like 'how to get this dnb bass' by chase altertone, you;d need to contact her about clearing it and that though.
you can cehck out http://hunter.audioshot.net/tempmusic and if you want to use any of my shite pm me

KEWL! SOOO glad you're interested Vurt, I like your stuff, perfect for a soundtrack. I'll have my rough cut (pre color correction & rotoscoping) done by the last week in July. I've got something like fifty hours worth of footage to log & bring into the system first. Just to give some ideas of some of the footage I have that I could see your stuff with, just to maybe spark your imagination, I have footage of mass arrests from a die-in in NYC, the Dean "I Have a Scream" speech in Iowa, & the "Shut Up A Thon" outside of Fox News. The storytelling style is going to be more "sights & sounds", a la DA Pennebaker, as opposed to a commentary style like Michael Moore. Just like, this is what happened, YOU decide if this is right.vurt wrote:my stuffs weird, hit my website and if you like it gimme some footage and ill do something specific if none of my available stuff works for you

I wonder if she included any of his nomination acceptance speech, as I have footage of arrests being made right outside MSG at that time that would go perfectly with that. Will check out your stuff MOST certainly, thanks for getting back to me....Hunter wrote:Lady J has put up an interesting tune with some George W speeches all cut up. Todd,
I'm busy on another soundtrack (or one song to a scene to be honest
), but maybe you yould be interested in getting your film shown in Europe?
I'm co-running with 100 others a network consicting of 15 culture NGO's called Nisi Masa. In addition to a solid contact network, we run our own screening nights around the Europe. Our Turkish members, VideA, are especially geared towards left-field influences in video and documentaries.
I would personally love to see your film myself, and we happen to have a human rights/activism-themed screening coming up in Helsinki this August, your would fit nicely in. Mind you, there's no money involved, as we are not interested in the profit-making side of cinema at all.
Let me know if you are interested!
sunny days,
Jon

I would be interested, but the way I have the schedule set up (still working at a fast clip), it wouldn't be completely done before the first of October, due to the amount of time the rotoscoping will take, even though it's going to be "autorotoscoped", using a custom made paint action sequence in Studio Artist 3. Basically I'll be using my old G3's, setting them up in the corner, and they'll be processing away for about a month & a half solid. Still amazed that I can even do it that way though, just ten years ago the same work would have taken years. Perhaps for next year? My aims are to mostly hit some of the more documentary oriented festivals, and perhaps a touring festival like ResFest. What's cool is I could also enter it into animation categories as well....pakana wrote:Todd,

You can have a listen to any of my stuff here: http://www.sighup.ca/music.html
And feel free to use any of it. It would probably fit in well with the vurt stylee. (although at the moment, my hosts's server seems to be absent).
