I need to get something clear about this track volume automation.

I am currently using Live 4. It doesn't have a Mixer per say, but allows you to change the volume of a track over the length of the track. So, you can have it slowly ramp up at the beginning of the track, then slowly ramp down to zero volume. I can do this anywhere in the track and have any section of the track increase/decrease in volume.

Is this possible in Sam V8 on either the audio or Midi track?

P.S. I am getting scarryingly close to buying Sam V8.

Thanks,

Hi Dennis ,

Yes you can do that in Samplitude .You can fade individual tracks up and down where ever you want and the same with panning on audio and midi tracks . You just enable volume or pan next to the track and draw in the ramps that you need . I presume that's what your looking for? I switched from Logic at the end of January and I am glad I made the decision and with the soon to be released 8.2 I will be even happier . This is an evolving program and I think you would be jumping onboard at just the right time .

Do you know if there are plans to allow MIDI vst instruments like ERA to work in Samplitude? I really miss that.
I'm not familiar with the ERA VST but I'll look for the demo and see if it works ok.

Oh - it most definitely doesn't work. These kinds of plug ins (vst plug ins that send MIDI information) don't work in Samplitude.

What's ERA? What is special about it?
VSTi support is included since v7, but, alas, VSTi-to-Midi-Output is currently not supported. Is that what you mean?

Yes - vst to midi output. ERA is a step sequencer that allows you to sequence note values, controllers, other MIDI events. What I find it essential for is to quickly and easily set up multiple instances (future versions will apparently allow you to do this with one instance) to have loops of various lengths playing simultaneously. These can be combined with the linear tracks of the host sequencer - a combination that I find really fun and creative.

The only host (that I know of) that allows you to set up polyrhythms like this really quickly and easily is Numerology, but that is Mac only.

But other MIDI fx and processing can come in handy as well.
