Hi! poepe - I had a go at creating an sfz version - but I ogg'ed the wave files so that its a smaller font and download - but may well work better for your set-up worth a try - I have just published the font here

http://www.audioshots.com/index.php?opt ... &Itemid=75 :D

load up the sfz file (in there is all the ogg files too, as sfz reads the ogg's look for the file with the sfz ending and load that :)

griels wrote:Buy sfz+ - it has much improved DFD over the free version.
SFZ+ is amazing (I got the early version = even better :D ) but it does not load sfz like sfz does - strange, I would have thought rené would have put sfz into sfz+ - has there been an update since?

:D thank you butter :D

Spe3d, you are nuts... and my hard disk's getting full, too... And I'm going to want more RAM (yeah, yeah, it's a soundfont so sfz/sfz+ will stream it in DFD but...). And it's all your fault ;-)
Thank you pljones - purchase a second hard drive fast - you are going to need more room  I have lots planed :)- totally addicted to samples now :D

Hi! Dimuthu

Seems the link broke in the posting for the four string version - this is the correct link (or you can visit http://audioshots.com and use the menu on the left to get to any of the sample files at audioshots.com without the need to register :)

Um, is it just me or... :D

It seems to be an octave "out" - I need to shift down an octave on my keyboard to get the usual range (compared, say, to Geoff Khan's Guitar Kit).

Also, the samples are very hot - I'm getting clipping with just a couple of notes played quite loud (in sfz - admittedly, with +6dB gain). I guess the samples were fully normalised? Not necessarily a problem, just something to be aware of really. (If sfz made it easier to switch gain in and out it would go unmentioned... but it's a regedit hack...)

Geoff Khan's Guitar Kit #1: 28Mb (one preset)
Geoff Khan's Guitar Kit #2: 60Mb (several presets)
Spe3d's Guitar: 340Mb (one preset)

So, uh, no real comparison possible :D.

Hi! pljones, :)

Is this just the sfz version with the ogg files? I am wondering if the conversion to ogg has affected them – I will check em out a bit later – the original samples were not fully normalised, I did leave some headroom though the velocity layer between 100-127 are hard plucks on the strings :D anything below this very smooth, I had a go at emulation of how the string reacts to hard, normal and soft playing, maybe on conversion this has been affected including the octave range – will check this out, thanks for the feedback on this – I hope its just a conversion thing :)

The normal install of sfz does not include the registry hack to increase volume - though if you have changed the registry to put the gain in then the font will play louder - but ok in a normal sfz install :D (the samples seem fine in the wave viewer so I need to look at the sfz text file next ) :)

Peter

Spe3d, I was using the SF2. And I tried in sfz+, too, where I don't have the extra gain and it was hitting 0dB pretty easily... tho' I tend to hammer the keys when I'm playing (er, I'm a drummer, really) so maybe if I were more subtle I'd get better value :D.

Anyway: Spe3d_Lead. Mmm...

Cool demo pljones :) thank you for posting this track :D great to hear it in action :D

Re- 0db- I think given this feedback I will in future make sure to add more volocity ranges as it gets near to the top :) , I have it too broad atm - also I was thinking if there are any fx that takes place near the top end, to make that a preset of its own for a different playing style - the next font is going to have this in place :D

When I'm auditioning a soundfont I do tend to push it to (a) the maximum volume and (b) maximum polyphony as a test. For a guitar, I'd expect to be able to strum hard and loud without clipping. That should mean plenty of headroom on a single note.

(With a piano, I expect 10 notes minumum - ideally, I should be able to play hard with the sustain pedal down without clipping.)

Hi! pljones, this is good feedback as I am now making another electric font, it is going to have more volocity levels - but - the top level is going to have loads of headroom :D - its a clean electric like this font, just bigger and better still with preset choices for different playing styles :D I thought this would be better than modding the first electric posted.

Peter
