@Barf: Try Revolverb (as mentioned on the first page of this thread ;) )
Point taken  I was barely awake when I wrote that...
Don't worry. I replied the same thing as Paulie and his reply was just two posts above

Coffee, gentlemen? :D I just made myself another one :)

@Funkybot: The TLS Pocket Limiter is really sweet, but I prefer the Saturated Driver which gives a somewhat warmer tone. In fact I've recently started using the Sat.Drv on pretty much everything - it's capable of some serious magic 8)

Many, many thanks for the posting and thanks to all who hosted the Noisevault files - I snarfed 'em from Scuzzphut's link.

Just a quick note - I have a Korg ToneWorks as well. It's not bad/not great but I do use it from time to time. Another good box to have is a Johnson Amplification J-Amp - I have one, but they are no longer in production.

Yeah I prefer the saturated driver too, also great for drums.

Thanks for sharing the impulse files!

Hi everyone,

Could someone put some samples of a bass through all these VSTs?

Cheers!

So is this supposed to be, like, the most distorted bass there ever was? I could only get this sounding decent once I took the RubyTube level about 75% down, the 1st Revolverb to 50% and the last to about 25% - the meters were pinned otherwise. But it sounds pretty good. Here's a sample, the original is hardly a pristine recording, but let's see:

Dry Bass

Wet Bass

Definitely grittier. I'm not sure if it's something that could've been achieved with EQ, but I like it. I'll have to try this in a mix.

Oh, that was an old Yamaha Bass and I'm using Cubase SX 2.

Just to add, this is a great setup for guitars as well.

sounds like it gave the bass a little more bite on the wet version. i fooled around a little with it last night, but when i loaded the impulse my whole computer shut down, so i decided to stop. seems like with some tweaking this thing could be pretty cool.

Tip for the heavies: Lemmy from Motorhead plays his bass over a stack of GUITAR-amps.

I think these speaker impulses have a lot of potential, but you will need more EQ to make the bass really sound like a bass. I have a hardware bass preamp, but I've also tried Baxxpander and the SimulAnalog Rednef Twin and will try others. Hydratone might work well here. Also threw GUP-1 on with its bass preset and it started sounding pretty good.
Here is my small version:

But that was a real bass... :(

Apparently not real enuf. :)

Just a quit one; RevolVerb doesn't seem to work when run inside that (otherwise rather super) French VST chainer.
