So has anybody here made any cool presets using the Synth Elements in SS2? I find the work-around for not having oscillators routed to a single set of synth parameters is to tweak a single preset, save as child, and load it into another part. It would be interesting to see what kind of sounds can be created just using the raw synth elements :)

When I first got it, I made some kind of fun things but nothing worth saving. Too much software to play with, not enough time to do any one item justice. :-S

Just about everything I did combined the more eccentric elements with synth samples, nothing pure synth-y. For that I use one of them whatchamacallits -- synths! Yeah, that's it. ;-)

This is the secret weapon of Sonik Synth 2. I use the elements all the time and LOVE it.

Don't worry. We're doing a bunch of new Combi patches. I hired one of Trent Reznor's programmers to do an awesome bank of NIN type electronic/industrial/experimental patches. I am doing a ton of "Atmospheric" pads (so to speak ;) ) and also some interesting "inventions" using the elements to create a composite NEW kind of instrument (similar to the Yamaha VL-1 in a way... but I will explain more when I have the sounds as a conversation piece).

You didn't think buying Sonik Synth 2 and getting close to 6,000 sounds meant that's all you'd get right? Don't you know us by now? ;) We're gonna make SURE you love that purchase. Got some cool features in the next software update as well after ST2.1 is released. Oh yeah!

All I want is to see everyone who likes either workstation synths or vintage keys modules to get this thing. Otherwise they're missing out. Right?

Ooh, ooh, was it Keith Hillebrandt? I love his work :hyper:

(of course, it's probably one of the other studio flunkys, like the Dead Hand System guys, but I can dream :hihi:)

(jaw drops)... That's so cool!

Personally, I like to use the synth elements to create composite synth bass instruments. I might have one element for the really low end, one element for the mid/high fuzz+rez, maybe an element for attack...

I don't know if this is helpful or if it is the type of thing you are looking for, but a memeber by the handle of Frunobulax did some nice work on SS2 Combis.

Yeah there have been some really good user combis made too. Sonik Synth 2 is full of possibilities. Honestly, the 5,800 sounds in it are really just scratching the surface of what it can do. I know it sounds silly for me to say because it is our own product but I honestly don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to have it as an available sound source to them. It just has such an eclectic offering and the immediacy of the engine allows for such wonderful quick sound shaping. It's just convenient that we spent so many years collecting all of these diverse elements and instruments to have it in one place and all for a good price. Remember that 8.5 gigs on 2 DVDs is the equivalent to 20 CDs of material relative to say something like Expansion Tanks. That would be $2,000 worth of libraries for just $399 (or less from any IK dealer). I know I am preaching to the choir here in our forum where many people already have it and know what I am talking about. This product has been very successful but it still isn't as popular as say Atmosphere I don't think. Yet it does so much more. I don't think Sonik Synth 2 has nearly reached its full potential in terms of its user base. But, the more people realize what it can do I think the closer it gets to being recognized as a "staple piece".

Well, it did get some really nice reviews and some awards. It's kind of cool to be in the Yamaha Motif ad even. The Motif is one of the best hardware keyboard workstations and the fact that they have me, SS2 and SR in there is definitely a good credit for us. Hopefully that level of mutual endorsement strikes a chord with new potential users.

big fan of the elements section here too. i made some combis a while back but later i realized what i was doing wrong, that SR was doing right. my combis took up way too much CPU and RAM which is the challenge of making a good combi. it should load fast and not destroy your session.

i've done some cool things with the elements and some friends ask "what'd you use to make that?" there is only ONE thing i use!

If SR made a hardware keyboard like a motif i would buy it for sure. My biggest greif with Sonik Synth 2 is the fact that it's limited to my computer, my studio. i think everyone should have it if they any taste for good synth/keyboard sound- and they will in time no doubt.
