Is anyone of you using guitar strum libraries? for acoustic and/or electric guitars?
These are 2 I found by searching the web
a) SonicImplants Acoustic Guitar Chords
b) Jim Corrigan's Nashville High-Strung Guitars
Is anyone using one of these or an other one?

Are they in any way better as what you can do with Virtual Guitarist in Channel 16 mode?
For those who don't know channel 16 mode. By using VG on MIDI channel 16, you can trigger it's samples directly (slow/fast/up/down strums, noises, and so forth).

Haven't used either (i'm a guitarist), but you may want to be careful with option B. Nashville strung guitars replace the bottom four strings on the instrument with ones tuned an octave higher than standard tuning. So you'll get the same chord, but you'll have more unison notes and a more closely spaced chord. Nothing wrong with it, it could add some nice texture parts, but if you're looking for a fat E major chord with the bass on that open 6th string you may be a bit disappointed.

heya all,
I'm new to this forum. I'm following the threads for a couple of months now. First time post

I have the SonicImplants Acoustic Guitar Chords.
Pretty good for generic use but don't expect much more than what you hear in the demo's.

Listen to these demo's:

[/url]http://people.zeelandnet.nl/jsierts/nig ... indemo.wma

i hope the url's are working. (first time posting and don't know for sure i've done it right)

In case the url's are working, don't pay any attention to the fact the struming is sometimes of beat. It's just my pour playing the keybord. (and no time to quantize it a bit)

have fun making music,

Jan

Wait a second, there have been four posts and no one has said: "just play the guitar yourself (or get someone else to play guitar)".

C'mon folks, you are slacking off.

People that play guitar are a dime a dozen. I like to pay people to come in a jam along with my tracks, then I cut up/edit their takes later. Works like a charm, and adds an essential "live" element to my songs.

Agree, nothing beats a live played guitar.

Sorry, trying it again

I don't find Real Guitar's chrods strumming very convincing. It seems to be good for picking, though.

Unfortunately, they don't have audio/mp3 samples (stupid not to), but maybe a search will provide some.

The RG add-on midi file library offers shedloads and shedloads of strumming and picking options - with Library 2 being IMO more sophisticated than Lib 1.

It would take a while to get bored of these.

But they have to be purchased as extras.

Here's a 2 guitar thing I did a while ago. It shows some of RG's scope - without use of the midi library - and with lots of high capo and open tuned sound.

Guit 1 picks and attempts to show off, while Guit 2 strums and passes round the cap for the tourists.

I for one do know how to play a guitar...but when it comes to recording...I'm the last person you want to record off of. :)

I have a guitar library here...'56 Stratocaster by QL...maybe it's time to bring it back out...
