One simple trick to extend the use of a sample is to modify them. Most, if not all, sampler/sample players have built-in tools that will allow users to modify the playback of samples (our own freeware Zamp is quite good at that).

Here are two mp3 examples demonstrating just that. First you hear the original sample as is and then it is followed by the modification. Each example contains a few samples. Both were done in FXpansion DR-008.

Example 1, samples from our drums/percussions kits:
Drums mods

Example 2, samples from Julie's Vocal FX:
Julie's mods

Some of these mods are rather extreme and some are more subtle.
If you own the DR-008, you can download the kits here:

Remember, almost every app that plays samples can modify them on playback, so start modifying! If you get results that you like and would like to share, you're welcomed to post them on our forum (link in the signature).

Thank you!

Just thought of something about the posting of mods examples on our forum, be careful about copyright issues. I am creating a thread on our forum. If you decide to post a mod, please read the notice before posting.

Thank you!

You need a sample site zvon, with a user base that understands samples a bit better, or are interested in them - this is not one ;)
