Before posting any examples in this thread, make certain that you are allowed to do so and are not infringing on any copyright. Post only examples of samples where you own the copyright (basically means you created the original sample) or that are royalty-free (like the ones in most magazines).
For instance, this use is restricted even for the samples that we are giving as free demos on our website. They are royalty-free only for you to use in your music. They are not royalty-free used alone even if modified.
Since this is our forum, I am granting you the permission to use our demo samples here and you can post the mods you make with our demo samples in this forum, but only here. Or use them in your music.
Again, if you use other samples, be absolutely certain that you are allowed to post them by the copyright holder.

One simple trick to extend the use of a sample is to modify them. Most, if not all, sampler/sample players have built-in tools that will allow users to modify the playback of samples (our own freeware Zamp is quite good at that).
Here are two mp3 examples demonstrating just that. First you hear the original sample as is and then it is followed by the modification. Each example contains a few samples. Both were done in FXpansion DR-008.
Example 1, samples from our drums/percussions kits:

Example 2, samples from Julie's Vocal FX:
Julie's mods
Some of these mods are rather extreme and some are more subtle.
