Presonus Blue Tube DP? I use this for warming up and compressing voice and acoustic guitar. Provides some distortion for the electric also.
PSP has some nice things in their MixPack that sound tubeish.

If it only were that simple...wsaidah wrote:looks like im going to have to build some type of tube device that i can change tubes until i find the one i like. im going to use it as a send effect! now i just have to figure out how to bild it. any suggestions
1: designing tube cirquits is a form of art, and can be quite expensive as a hobby! Not for the faint-hearted.
2: suppose you have a cirquit designed for 12AX7 tubes. You cannot simply put in EL84's and assume it will work. There are many different types like triodes, pentodes, etc, each with heir own sockets and specs.
3: are you serious?? VST tube effects have less noise, and comsume less power. And behave much more reliable!

"Real" tube gear always has a comma in the price tag, and you generally don't hear the tube in the way you might be thinking. If what you want is distortion, get a few "crap" pieces and see what distortion you like. If you want the sound of real tube gear, just buy the most expensive non-tube gear you can afford.

That's an EQ and not "just any tube amp stage", so ofcourse it colours the sound.wsaidah wrote:yes i am serious! im looking for the pultec 1s3 Schematic so i can have a look at the circuit design.
Maybe if you buy one first, then you won't have any problem reverse-engineering the schematic, and thus analyse where "the sound" comes from
