Spectralive

Just got my Spectralive from the Group Buy. It is the best value I've ever found in a plugin. Hate stereo effects with a passion. I use BBE on the lowest settings because anything more than that made my mixes sound like they were being played in a tin can.
Spectralive adds a real fullness to a mix (along with a superb stereo widening if needed. With this and Hydratone, I've taken a huge leap forward.

Weird, I was just going to post a topic on whether anyone had gotten closer to the bottom of the whole cycle of weirdness regarding this company and it's product.
Synthedit or no Synthedit?
What does it actually, you know...do?
Why did the price drop by a factor of 4 overnight?
What about those mysterious untraceable endorsements?
Anyone have any more info on these guys or their wonder plug?

I'm just a normal guy. I've posted (albeit rarely) on this board and others. I admit I do a lot of trolling, but the info I've gotten from this board has been really been great.Frippertronix wrote:What about those mysterious untraceable endorsements?
I just want to support a plugin that I think actually outperforms the marketing, and which sells at a very reasonable price. We've seen some plugs priced extremely high at launch, and god bless those developers for adding to our options. Well, this one is cheap and it's still fantastic.
On top of that, a group buy was offered at an early stage to get people on board. I appreciate that and hope other developers take note of all of this.

The price dropped because of the group buy.
A description of what it does is available on the product's home page. "Spectralive is a VST exciter/enhancer." It does the whole phase correcting thing, I think is the implication, but it does it a different way. It also has some EQ and stereo width capability. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyway, I went in on it for $16 in the group buy, and it's fabu. Much better than the BBE, in my opinion.
They're a little vague about how it works ( it does occasionally kind of sound a little like Ricky Jay in the Spanish Prisoner "...It's a process...") but the thing works. Try the demo

Thanks, I did get the demo and I'll try it this weekend.agincourtdb wrote:The price dropped because of the group buy.

As far as the price, the group buy is over and the standard price is set on the website at $29.99, but it was originally about $85 and then it suddenly plummetted down to where it is set now. Seems odd, but maybe they just figured they had overestimated its market value.
Someone from the company has posted here but he seems to have evaded the Synthedit queries.

The price is surprising. Seems to me most decent plugins cost a couple hundred, except for the few that are free. I guess $30, with a generous group buy, is pretty near free, but enough to cover the hassle of keeping the website up etc. Nobody's going to make money selling a plugin for 30 bucks.
It's a very nice plugin. If waves made it, it wouldn't be any better, but would cost $350. Probably most people lack the ears or monitors to use it tastefully, so I suspect it'll do more harm than good, but if you trust yourself and your rig, it's great.

I got it and it really is hard not to put it in now after A/Bing it all the time. Really adds to it - although, i'm not mastering anything yet so, maybe you can achieve the same thing at that stage but for now, i just love how easy it is to get a good sound with it.
