I'm hoping that flaunting the Donkey Tugger name will up the page count on this thread.

@ Sickle666, I'm still sitting on my dark ambient track. I'll post it some day. I either need to get really liquored-up and uninhibited enough to post it as is or fix the glaring problems with it. The latter is taking a long time...

Or, you can do what I do and get liquored up & finish/fix it, THEN post it and REALLY f**k yourself over like I tend to do.

:hihi:

I break things that way. I've backed off so much of the drugs I used to like not because of health or danger, but because I tend to get creative and I just can't operate my gear stoned. Drinking's better, but I tend to sing off key the more I drink.

BTW, I meant to tell Markleford, I worked out the lyric to this driving in the car when I came out to meet you at that restaurant last fall... :)

No Donkeys were harmed in this version.

@ bluedad: Thanks for dropping by. Sorry the drums didn't appeal to you. I rather liked that part. The thing I was worried about was the electric piano sound. It's kind of a DX-7ish patch that normally I hate hate hate. I really hate that sound. it's that kind of 80s-pop-music-wedding-band-sound that really grates on my nerves... :x But it actually registers well over all the din of the rest of the instrumentation and I thought it might be kind of funny to leave it in there. Other sounds I tried got lost.

How's your band doing? Still playing out? I haven't been keeping up with these forums lately...

@ Markleford: Yes it's taken a long time to get this done - but it's mainly because I'm really self-conscious about vocals. I've tried a lot of approaches, this version seemed to work best of the lot. Also, I've got some electrical issues in my house. I can't record any audio through the mixer at night because there's so much hum and interference from the lights on dimmers in the house and other noise. Since I'm in between jobs, I have more time in the day to record... Of course I should be sending out resumes... Nah

@ multree: Thanks!

band is going well..first band I've been in where there's no ego problems, so this may last a while.
This situation was offered me at just the right time, I think, and I'm having a blast. I was most worried how I would be able to handle the late hours :hihi:

took a few listens, but I'm enjoying the drums in this tune more. and really, it was more the fill-ins I didn't like initially.
sorry to hear you're between jobs, btw.

Between jobs is good. I quit my last job. I was in my annual performance review and the boss said I was doing alright but I needed to project a more positive image in front of the junior employees. I was supposedly a senior designer, but the "senior" part was not reflected in my job status or pay so I told the boss that. He had a list of recommendations about how I could improve, but most of those applied how the company could utilize me better - not things I needed to change besides being "more upbeat and positive." (They also screwed up relations with one of my old clients I tried to bring to them.) So after the boss offers me a paltry pay raise to an already underpaid job, I said, "Consider this my two weeks notice."

I had already hinted that the end time was coming for me - I just stayed long enough to make sure that the big assignments with which I was involved got completed properly. I may still contract with them - unless my old boss sees this post! I really like being on my own - working from home. I've already found a potential client with whom I may be able to more than double my salary from the last year. All while doing work I particularly enjoy. Fingers are crossed very tightly.

Our singing together is finally getting to the point where the sum comes out better than the parts.
The two of you work really well together indeed

Maybe weird but at times it felt to be listening to some kind of undiscovered John and Jono track.

Eagerly awaiting the dark ambientish track 8)
