After some careful considering, I'd like to change my last statements and say that Aleksey's GUI's are in fact the most functional and beautiful of all and those "faggy" colours are in fact either very carefully chosen not to hurt your eyes too much but still remain distinctive... everything is just perfect and I wouldn't change much in any of his GUI's.

Thank you Aleksey for great looking and very functional [which is the most important thing after all] plugs. You've got an eye for that. OTOH, I don't like your [experimental?] Delay and Amp GUI's, for instance. Your standard GUI's look more like Waves stuff, very functional and nice for the eye ;-).

Still, those PSP VW buttons look very nice, aren't they? :D

Please don't change them for the worse, please, like some developers have done it and made a mistake IMO [like Linplug CronoX, it looks absolutely disgusting now, orange... after the users suggested it].

Aleksey, you just keep your attention focused on sound and functionality, rather than nicer [worse] looks. Your Span plugin look's just wonderful, amongst others.

Cheers.

You could maybe make a small textline on the bottom of all plugins and just put the full name of the control the mouse pointer's on there. Much like a browser does with links?

Or make something like the standard Windows hover popups. If you let the mouse pointer rest on a control without moving it there will pop up a small window with the full name?

If you go for something like this you could also include a checkbox for the user to let them choose if they want it or not?

Just a thought.......

...and beautiful (they're eye candy to me, honest, I enjoy them every time I see them)

if they are "faggy" I wanna be a faggot ;)

I'd be disapointed if they went all arty. To me, they look like they would get they job done well. :)

OK, thanks for another point of view. :) I'm considering adding 'status' line in the future. Of course, I will be also refining everything a bit trying not to go to extremes.

to me the best gui is the one that is the fastest to use. example: i prefer harmonieq to glisseq because you don't have to select the modes of the knobs - it's faster to use.

dropdown boxes suck - they're slower.

just think: fast and small, no candy, everything has to have it's own, natural-feeling place.

and the looks .. well, look at the guis of energyxt. small, fast, hyper-usable. pretty, good contrast, does still not strain your eyes. (not to say they're perfect)

just remember that your eyes are automatically drawn to areas (buttons, what ever) that have a lighter colour. that means that if you have two buttons, the more important one should be a lighter colour. maybe you should read just a little bit about picture composition to learn how the eye moves in a picture? and colour composition to get cool colours =)

but minimalism rocks imho. don't want no eyecandy or hardware-looking stuff. plain business, like the plugs! =)

and for the lf-punch part .. well, i have to confess that i'm a bit disapointed. but maybe that's because i had very high expectations. lf-punch doesn't stand a chanse to waves maxxbass or rbass .. or arboretum hyperprisms' bass booster ..

but, it isn't the worst i've tested either .. these two are the best ones of the ~20 bass boosters and saturators i've tested.

the test was done on trying to acheive an hyper deep but highly articulating psytrance bassdrum and bass (separate plugins)

examples? listen to hujaboy, skazi, ... what the heck, even gms. (growling mad scientists) or anything from t.i.p. world records.

oh, and knobs should NOT have a rotary mode. just click-drag on it up-down. nothing else. i HATE those knobs you don't know get a steady grip of right away.

simple, clean, efficient, minimalistic, but most importantly:

FAST and EXACT ... and FAST .. and SIMPLE! =)

(and fast)

hm and gray colours are good .. and orange .. i like the colours of curveeq and kvr =)
