I've been using Windows Media Audio and I can't help but notice that the cd's sound compressed. Does anyone know why this is and if there is another burning application cheap or free that will get better results? Thanks in advance!

Just Windows media audio, and I have Roxio burning software...i think I'm just gonna have to compare specs...even though I have no idea what they mean. I have the free version of real player too.

Same thing as a bookburning; matches and gas, why do you ask?
Sorry, a little goofy tonight. I use Adaptec's ez-cd creator.

Nero 6 OEM will cost you 2 Euros. Ask someone buying a computer to get it for you, in case they don't need it for themselves. It'll most likely satisfy all your burning needs for a long time.

both real player and the roxio software should be fine for just basic burning.mgcollins21 wrote:Just Windows media audio, and I have Roxio burning software...i think I'm just gonna have to compare specs...even though I have no idea what they mean. I have the free version of real player too.

hey, if you burn with either WMP10, or by drag and drop onto a disc in windows, you're using the Roxio engine. Microsoft licensed it to include with XP. If you're installing other stuff just to burn CD, you're just wasting time IMO. WMP10 works fine for throwing a bunch of tracks on a CD, and if you need to burn your mp3's into seperate folders, you can drop the folders into the blank CD using Windows (can't do this with WMP10). It's easy, works well, and you dont have to install some other program on your PC to do it.

Try going to options, devices, then unchecking "apply volcume leveling" under the Quality tab. That could help.mgcollins21 wrote:the cd's sound compressed
Another thing, in WMP click on View, enhancements, then toggle on Show Enhancements. Here's where you can turn off the built in EQ which defaults to ON, and you can turn off the SRS WOW effects that default to ON.

Is there a program that can split a large audio file into smaller files and burn it as multiple smaller tracks, like Nero does?
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.
