Be original, but not too original.
Be different, but not too different.
Be the same as everybody else, but not too much the same.
Is that about right?
So, erm, who rocks YOUR boat musically?
They must be very talented musicians indeed.
can we hear something different and pushing the boundries ?Don't people understand that to write outstanding music you need to do something different? Push the boundaries? Surprise people??

not *too* original? not *too* different? ??Glassback wrote:So.

what - now you're implying that i have unreasonable standards or something. ALL I WANT IS A LITTLE ORIGINALITY PLEASE! and so many of you get all wound up and begin overexaggerating and stuff. Is that about right?

yes, that's too deep. i didn't mean to get you to start questioning the universe or anythingnibbzious wrote:I don't think it's fair to judge others that create what you call "standard" music. What if they are quite content with that form of music? What if they are completely happy that they make the same music as everyone else? Is that wrong? What if they are just plain talentless but they still love music, and try as BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.
you bet! and i'd say even more:clueless wrote:Nihil Sub Sole Novum
i'm with you on your arguments up to a point...Armadillo wrote:Glassback, Topaz, nibbzious and probably a few more. Why do you take Churchy's argument so personal?
It's not like he said everyone at KVR make the same standard music. For all I know he could be a music journalist who's tired of the Britneys, Robbie Williamses and Oasyses of this world. Or the equivilant names in Dance music, let's say DJ Sammy, Ian Van Dahl etc.
He does not need to make groundbreaking music himself to bring up a point. That's like me complaining about the filters on a NI synth. What.....do I need to be able to make better filters myself for that reason?
You are right, some people doing trance for exemple are just imitating the staples of the genre BUT they get praised because they sound like the big boys.Tux wrote:The thing is, these new guy's are being hailed as genius' too cos of their ability emulate the top artist's!
