Lot's of people are doing same kind of music, but even worse thing than that is the fact, that people have written love songs for the last three thousand years! That sucks! If the message hasn't gone through by now, it never will!

I don't understand why some people seem to think that others have to justify the music they make. Just becasue a producer happens to have a telent for britney-esque pop music doesn't make them a c**t who's sold out.

Has it ever actually occurred to anyone that some producer might enjoy making this music just as much as someone who does something more off the wall like aphex twin for example? Why does popularity and making good music in a certain vein have to equal being a sell out or not being a "true artist" because you aren't constantly trying to push the envelope.

Jesus, why can't people just be allowed to make art/music/literature/whatever just becasue they enjoy it and it gives them and the consumer some pleasure. Why the hell do they have to justify it?

Answer - they don't. Its no-ones f**king business what music other people make. They don't need your permission.

disclaimer - this isn't aimed at the thread starter or anyone else in particular.

why pick on love songs?

bad love songs maybe...

why not just "bad" songs?

I don't believe there's any such thing as a bad song, or a good song. Just a matter of personal taste. Surely thats the absolute bottom line in music, or any other art form - matter of personal taste.

not a dig at you clueless, just a point.

what an odd thread!

music is music is music

experiment yes, but in a sense everyone is, just by the virtue of putting a note down.

Anyway, what is experimenting?? spookily, this was my very first post:

if you don't like a particular genre, it tends to all sound the same. If you love that genre, the tiny differences can make a world of difference, and the people that complain it all sounds the same look like idiots. I don't think two tracks are ever totally the same

Exactly. I like drum and bass among other things, and my mate always says it all sounds the same. In fact anytime i lisen to any remotely "banging" dance music, he thinks its drum and bass.

On the flipside, he listens to mostly pop-punk stuff like blink 182. I think a lot of that sounds pretty similar.

The point - he doesn't have to justify his tastes and nor do i.
