Btw, I'm just doing an EXS version (no worries, will send them straight to you).
The samples are indeed VERY low leveled and in addition I have to say that you're using weird naming conventions.
Personally, I'd reccomend sticking to G# instead of Gsharp - some samplers (such as the EXS) will automap them following MIDI note naming conventions. Also, I find this way of naming samples to be the best for organisational purposes.

yes Spe3D that is true but I wanted the real behaviour anyway, as a typical musical box (at least, the one I have in mind) usually has a moderate polyphony and note repetition rate.Spe3D wrote:the reason is it could quickly build up and choke a cpu if a lot of notes
Sure, I won't sequence Flight of the Bumblebee with it
I noticed the volume issue too, but don't remember the value I used (something like yours).
If I have time this evening I will try something with release triggers aswell, maybe something interesting could come.
I will let you know.
ciao
Francesco

Hi all,
Just to clarify on the non-normalized, non-noise-reduced files. This is a very quiet music box with a very loud motor mechanism and I did the best I could to capture the sound evenly across the board without too much noise. In my professional opinion, normalizing and noise-reducing soft delicate samples can completely destroy the life of them.
Music boxes are not without a lot of self noise. And many are imperfect in all their tunings. This is the real deal, not a synthesized music box, and that's why it sounds so real when compared to many other music box patches.
I'm very pleased to see so many excited about porting to other formats and trying new things with the instrument. But please consider our original intent when we sampled - it was to capture a very delicate, authentic, slightly creepy sound. In that regard, the noise floor is what it is and only adds to the instrument.

Is there a way to span a larger keyrange, maybe like in a commercial version or is this the box's limit?

This is actually stretching the box's limit already, the box's original melody only had 1.5 octaves. I'm looking into other music boxes and might do a small collection of these with different sounds and such. That may yeild a wider range.

I'm rating this company 99/100. Damn near close to perfection. I say this for several reasons:
- Exellent quality of work
- Great value/variety for product
- First hand customer servive, easy to get a hold of (actually called me first)
- Very diplomatic with atypical disagreeable persons
- sound buisness strategies (i.e. a quick freebie before the release of a major product, which is going to be great, to get the company name back out there)
- trust is eveident from the first dealings and you deifiently want to deal with company again, a secure feeling
Now, if you want that extra point from me to make it 100 (a perfect score), please take over Wusik. I still think its for sale, every other Tuesday.

Thanks so much meeks, we appretiate it. That's funny you should bring up Wusik, I was just joking with Frank, our CEO, last week that we should buy it and use it as a player for our libraries so we can bundle them instead of messing with all these various formats.meeks wrote:I'm rating this company 99/100. HI Alan (of Bela D Media),
Is it me, or is this music box tuned at 443 Hz instead of 440 Hz?
All notes seem to be 15 to 20 cents sharp...
When measured with A = 443 Hz all notes seem to be in tune.
