New features for V1.25:
  • Real-time, Stereo, Polyphonic Formant Correction!
  • 'Smooth Formant' filter control for optimum results.
  • Stereo Pan sliders added for all voices.
  • 'Auto-Gain' post Formant volume correction.
  • 'CPU-Save' mode avoids processing on zero/low input.
  • 'Hi-Res' mode for improved sound quality on certain material.
  • GUI Fix for Adobe Audition.
Formant correction is a method for restoring the human qualities to vocal tracks that have been pitch shifted. 'Choir Boy' uses a unique approach to this task which enables Formant correction, not only for a single voice, but for a complete choir - in real time!

Hi men,
you did learn allot, how to make an useful harmonizer effect in the last weeks... :hihi:

But you wouldn't be able to top my price.... :hihi:

Well done!

How does this thing sound on whole arrangements with drums etc?
I tried Wavelabs tool for pitchshifting with formant preservation, and although everything got shifted like it should, it sounded really ugly with strange phaser effects and more.
I know it´s mainly ment for vocals, but it´d be good if it would also work well on more complex inputs.

Thanks!

It sounds good with whole arrangements - but that depends on your material and taste. I am pleasantly surprised to hear that the formant correction still works when applied to complete material that includes a vocal in the mix. I cannot post any examples here because the material is subject to copyright restrictions.

I hereby invite some of the existing users to post some examples of how they use 'Choir Boy'.

On the second point, I've always maintained that 'Choir Boy' is not primarily for vocals. The customer feedback I have say it works very well on other material. The addition of formant correction now means that it also works very well on vocals, as well as providing interesting possibilities with other material.

Dude, feel free - and for free :) - to use a song of mine as a demo - full or partial, lowq/hiq - you decide that.

It´s for download from my homepage anyway, so I don´t see why it shouldn´t also be used by you.

I've ordered it and received my email key. Do I need to wait for you to send the latest version or can I register the demo? :?

Can it do formant shifting while keeping the same pitch?

Forever,

Kim.

That's my interest, too.

There should be a link to the program in the email and on the share it receipt page.

Just bought this, and whilst I was there I went for free eq and clone boy as well. They're so cheap I couldnt resist :)

It's because our voices are too manly for the kind of music we're making.

It's the closest I'm ever going to get to a pair of tits at my age.

But I think it's high time to invest in Choir Boy me thinks? Or wait a little longer for Space Boy to finish that virtual VP9000 sampler if he's getting the formant control down this good...? ;)

Way to go Space Boy! :hail:
