I'm considering bying a set of Alesis Monitor one Active MK II(studiomonitors).

I've got a pair of event tr8's that are very realistic... What you hear is pretty much what you get. And they are about the same price range.

I have the same feeling and experience about the alesis monitor one MK II's. They are not very accurate and kind of 'smear' transients (very soft sounding monitors). You'd probably be better off with Yamaha MSP5's or similar. They are not as pleasant sounding but mixes tend to translate quite well. Also, Genelec just announced the 8020a's, smallest in the series. I have no idea what price they will be but my guess is around the 250-300$ range per monitor.
