that's so funny. when I was in grade school, crunk used to be a term people around here used for crappy canadian punk bands like DOA (who aren't that crappy if you're into that type of thing i guess). now it means southern hiphop? that's sooo funny. I guess crunk should just become a blanket term for crappy music.

Is that the KVR usage? Generally crappy music?

Well then, curnk is my word of the day. It can replace my previous scorn-phrase of "that's so nineties"
"Have you been living under a rock bro?
Guys with puppets get CHICKS!"

Crunk is old news. Already covered here by me... just search for 'crunk'

Post

its very simple, crunk is a word that has made alot of people very rich, very jealous, very sad, and very happy
which catagory you fit in really depends on what kind of person you are for example, you are lil'jon, a person
who despises black youth and the cultural/artistic fruits there of, a hiphop artist disturbed that the success you enjoy is not directly connected to the level
of integrity you invest in your art, or a listener that cares for nothing but the pounding bass/drums/and synth
lines that are crunk.
where ever you fall with-in these catagories or outside of them there is only one thing to be certain of and that is that 'it doesn't matter' The earth will continue
to rotate until we blow it up.

Couldn't agree more. Hands up anyone who makes death-handbag-metal-lounge-core-step'n'roll?

(that actually sounds quite good) HiHi
Korn - Word Up a cover of the original by funk band Cameo.

Actually Nu Metal and Funk have a lot in common,

sounds a bit clumsy to me... best hybrid style song in the charts for a while though (points for originality)

So apart from crunk and tarnce what other KVR genres should i be aware of avoiding?
I prefer Jay-z vs Linkin Park - 99 Problems/One Step Closer

"Crunk" was also a fake swear word invented on the Conan O'Brien show. I remember Conan got Ice-T to say, "Man, that's crunked up!" ;)

that's the single most blasphemous load of horseshit I've ever seen in a post of yours. your parents should be shot for raising a daughter who could utter such nonsense with a straight face.

and Korn's cover of Word Up was utterly horrible. if not for the concept alone, then they went and f**ked it up by leaving out the bridge with the horn breakdown. best part of the damn song.

S_A_P® wrote:Crunk is unfortunately a plague on our society, set to make urban youths believe that the path to happyness lies in 22" rims, platinum and diamond encrusted teeth, and chanting 3 little words "WHAT, YEAH and OK". Unfortunately, these same urban youths do not realize that the myth is being laid out by a filthy rich white CEO who reports to stockholders. This Guy tells his underlings to find more acts that play to the lowest common denominator of our society, and play on stereotypes. Therefore if an artist wants to fit in, they must adopt these stereotypes and play ball. Crunk is one of those things that will implode under its own weight. Anyway we can hope. I just cant wait for the day that hip hop artists can make music without the fear that they must conform to the bollocks that is popular today and still prosper. that goes the same for any music.
Believe me, it will happen. This is a phase and will eventually fall. Let's just hope that is soon so we can get back to creating hip hop that is a bit more sophisticated. I really hope to see that shine through to the masses, but I fear some big timer will go and exploit that and in the end it will be distorted just like everything else they get their hands on.
