Hollow Sun 'Definitive PPG' CD now released......

The PPG collection features what I feel are the most distinctive sounds from this most distinctive synth.

It is currently only in S5/6000 format (which is proving to be surprisingly popular following the release of the S5/6k NewTron and CP70) and, of course, will work perfectly on a Z-series and/or MPC4000 as well as many of the s/w samplers that now have the good sense to read S5/6000 format.

Though I say so myself, this is a cracking assortment of noises that you're unlikely to find anywhere else... some truly unique and distinctive sounds that will add spice to any track - from vicious basses to tingly chimes...... you name it.

If you are interested, pop along to:

And kindly place your order ;)

Best regards.

Steve,

You are a good bloke, thanks! Just out of interest, what seperates these samples from those found in the PPG VST?

btw, I love anything and everything Waldorf so I'll be having these anyway

Cool stuff. One suggestion though - perhaps ask someone to create a demo of the sounds? The individual patch demos are fine, but sometimes it helps more to hear them integrated in a song. At least, that's what sells ME on a synth or sample library.
Shreddage 3 Stratus: Next generation Kontakt Player guitar, now available!

Impact Soundworks - Cinematic sounds, world instruments, electric guitars, synths, percussion, plugins + more!

Frankly? Not a lot!

These are from a genuine PPG tho. The VSTi is a (very good) emulation.

That said, my brief experience of the PPG VST demo is that they are almost indistinguisable.

On the other hand, with Waldorf's (sad) demise, that VSTi (as I understand it) is no longer officially available (those on Pirate-2-Pirate networks should keep their heads down!!!!)

Honestly? If you have the PPG/Waldorf VSTi (preferably bought and paid for!!!!!), there's not a lot of benefit to be had from my collection. If you don't, however, here's the chance to have a genuine PPG with the benefits that sampling can offer such as different filters, etc., that the original couldn't offer.

Gotcha! Well, like i say I'd definately take yours aswell, be interested to compare them to my (original  ) PPG VST. To be honest, I'd imagine the VST contains the original waves, so the only emulate must be in the other gubbins - filter, DA's etc.

Eitherway, Im a big fan of this synth, and a big fan of your site so I'll be hoping over at some point for a gander.

Whats the size btw (sorry, being lazy  )?

Thanks for being honest about it, and yes sampling opens up more doors to different kinds of manipulation so owning this aswell as the vsti could save some one a hell of a lot of work.

Sorry... missed this first time round.....

250Mb - 50 highly representative and characteristic PPG programs/patches and 370+ multi-samples.

Most sounds are stereo, sampled every minor third for best definition.

Noted ;)

I happen to prefer to hear them in isolation, raw and with no processing to best evaluate the sounds I might be buying - so many demos these days (IMHO) are over-produced and are not always a good indication of what you're actually buying! I won't name names but I have bought CDs on the basis of their demo (which had a high 'wow factor') only to be spectacularly underwhelmed when I received it and heard the sounds in isolation - glitchy loops, poor programming, etc.. As a result, I prefer to parade my wares 'as is'.

But I take your point.

For those who dont know, you can load this format in Orions Sampler

Just to add that I got my PPG CD on Friday, and was suitably impressed as usual. I have dabbled with the VSTi, but found that many of the patches weren't that impressive or outstanding. At least with Steve's CD, he has sorted out the wheat from the chaff and these are 50 extremely useable sounds.

They also utilise the S6000's features very well (check out the programming if you can) and these have a fullness that was sometimes lacking on the VSTi.

As ever, Steve's sustain loops are seamless and these sounds are probably the best example of a PPG you'll get at this price and of this quality.

Nice work again mate :)
