Hi all
I have a guitarist/ flutist friend who lives now in another state ( alaska!)We want to collaberate. He uses Cakewalk Pyro 2003 but he can't seem to figure out how to create an MP3 , so I can collaberate with him. I am using Tracktion.
so..what I want to know ( since I am not a Cakewalk Pyro 2003 user at all!) is how..step by step he can create a mixdown of his tracks, then convert it to MP3 so he can send it to me. He keeps sending my cakewalk.wrk files..but these won't work unless you have the full session and the actual program..so I have asking him to do a mixdown to a stereo wave file, then convert to MP3..but he can't seem to figure out how to do it..so I need a step by step.
PRETTY PLEASE!!

Hi Tim, I don't think he can convert wav to mp3 with Pyro. It's for burning CDs. It can make mp3 and audio CDs but converting... I don't think so. But then I don't use it anymore and I can't remember for sure.
Ausacity is a free audio editor that can record and save in various formats, including mp3. I don't have the link right now, but I'm sure Google does.

boy..and I thought it was a sequencer, not a CD tool..shows how much I know about the cakewalk world. Guess I have to ask him what he is using for his sequencer then. MAN.. I'm confused and thanks for the lineup!

I have Pyro, you can make an MP3 from a wave file. In the Make CD View there is also a button labeled convert which will give you the choice of mp3 or wma.
I'm glad the c major scale was invented before copyright law

It sounds like your friend may be using Plasma, not Pyro. Plasma is a sequencer and is basically a cut-down version of Sonar. The fact that you mention .wrk files confirms my suspicion as it is the file extension of older cakewalk sequencers. Pyro,on the other hand, is for CD burning and it can also convert to mp3, although the quality isn't that good. If your friend is indeed using Plasma he would need to export to wav first and then convert to mp3 using an external program. Audacity works well for free. Hope that helps!
