it's different, with some similarities.
imo.
what exactly is your definition of PDC?

Let me put it this way....when I insert SIR into a track its timing in relation to other tracks remains the same instead of being some 8000(?) samples late. If thats not PDC then fine...whatever you want to call it, it works for me :)
Not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good

PDC

Yes, it has full PDC, works great with my UAD-1 cards. Surprisingly, the audio engine remains gapless, during playback, even when inserting and deleting plugins requiring PDC. Most other PDC capable host apps (SONAR, Nuendo, ACID Pro etc.)gap to one degree or another, when inserting/deleting plugins requiring PDC. At least, they do when using my UAD-1 plugins, on my DAW. Not so with P5 2.0 though. It's gapless audio engine, with full PDC, is one of the things that sold me on it.

P5V2 gaps for me every time I change a preset. It gaps more than any other host I have except Sonar.

agree, a compliment to Reason than a competitor.... :)

Too bad that P5V2 only runs on a PC...I have a MAC, I could only iamgine! :)

I Have P5, I sold LiveV4 and also had and sold Reason!

Well, I tried with Live (several times) but it was so arcane - Midi editing was bad news and I lost the will to use it, it can be a frustrating program - but it has many fans - so this is just my experience.
...which is part of the reason why I made the switch back to Live 3.04! So don't sweat it Flipper. You're not alone. And BTW, I still use FLS 5 for my MIDI programming. So it's no sweat to me.

But I have a lot of faith that Ableton will redeem themselves with the release of Live 5. Maybe by then it would kill Acid Pro (fovever?) and really become the "all-in-one" host that Project5 v2 is suppose to be.

The issue with MIDI & VST format must improve. 8)

I wonder if P5's interface is a CPU hog in itself? :hihi:

How well does P5 host FL Studio as a VST?

It hosts the dxi just fine. I havent tried the vst or rewired TBH. I find that sonar, P5,FLstudio and reason all complement each other fine, and I really see no reason it should be a host x vs host y comparison...

I did lots of flopping between Live4 and P5. I'm very interested in possibly doing some live sets, thus a departure from my favorite tracktion... Live4 and P5 were the two obvious and most logical candidates. I ended up purchasing Live4. I think in terms of live usage it's superior. Whether I can justify that, I dunno... but it just felt right... very origanic... I think aspects of P5 might have the edge in terms of actually working the timeline. It just seems a hair better suited toward that tho live is definately capable. As a whole, I don't find the p5 interface inspiring, and it's a little too large. Live is really good at maximizing yout screen space and isn't afraid to use smaller typefaces. I also prefer Live's midi editor to P5 hands down (but I'm probably alone on this). They are both very interesting takes on a more organic music making process. No doubt tho, P5 is something special in it's own right... it just didn't gel with me like live. After digging deeper into Live, I'm really seeing a whole new appreciation for it.

And now I feel even better with the Live5 announcement.. and the fact that I fall into the category worthy of the $49 upgrade! Looks like Live5 is really going to take things to another level, including features which exist in P5. Should be exciting! :D
