Thanks for the heads up, gentleharp. Heh, seems like just last year I was in the middle of (1) realizing how cool Live was thanks to the cut-down version included with my sound card, (2) learning Live 3, then (3) plunging headlong into the beta for 4.

Looks like I'm going to have to upgrade. Track freeze is about all I really needed in Live4.

Having decided to rely on Live 4 as my ONLY sequencing host, along comes 5 - truly the DAW buster than 4 promised to be. This looks.... absolutely awesome!

Are you kidding?!CANE CREEK wrote:Lets hope there gonna sort out the huge CPU Hog issue of 4 , although i can't see anything mentioning it in the notes
Read again the section on how the freeze is being implemented
I can't think of any other host that allows you to do anything like that!! This makes the freeze feature in *some* sequencers look truly pathetic by comparisson!!

I'm stoked. I think this may get me to stop fumbling around with four sequencers, trying to get around Live's CPU issues. I'd rather work on my old Powerbook and this makes it actually possible. Live is just the most productive environment I've found for my way of working and I'm really happy about this update (at least in theory).

Truth is, I love the P5... How can you beat Dimension? But Live 5 looks like a must have upgrade. Also looks like it's taking on Reason's Combinator with the cool Device Groups. Lots to see here and soak in!Ableton are going to kill Cakewalk!

Now if we could only create our own color schemes...
