Well, in response to the person who said I might not be using it properly.. I agree! I am very new to the program.
Here's an example sound I'm trying to loop:

Comes up as a bela d sample here (bela d 2_4), you might want to check your source and remove the link if this is the case.zircon wrote:Well, in response to the person who said I might not be using it properly.. I agree! I am very new to the program.

Erm, actually, I designed that sound. I used it in part of a demo song I sent to the folks @ Bela D, and that file name (bela d 2_4) was the project file's name. I have no idea why that is showing up as the actual WAV name. Please excuse itSpe3D wrote:Comes up as a bela d sample here (bela d 2_4), you might want to check your source and remove the link if this is the case.zircon wrote:Well, in response to the person who said I might not be using it properly.. Thanks for clarifying that zircon
– what would be super cool now is to know what host is writing the project name into all of the samples by default – what did you do the actual project in that was sent to bela d?
Re- your pad, this is a perfect sound for doing things manually, it will be interesting to see the loop that is done by lovesign, I will have a bash with awave and zero-x and see which does a better job automatically – and then a final one in SoundForge 8

FLStudio 5 is, apparently. Do you know of some sort of WAV tag editor? It seems like Nero can do it, but that's for burning the files, not quickly changing their info.

Abobe will allow this, and sound forge - look for a wave editor that can change the name tag, as that is where its written in this case.zircon wrote:FLStudio 5 is, apparently. Its an intersting sound, what synth did you use to create it?

I find that with Seamless Looper a tiny bit of crossfade usually makes all the difference. Personally I love the app, but it is starting to show some age. Maybe an update to show the love to all us dedicated Zero-X customers?

and here's a pic of the new GUI:

There should be another update comming soon as well, but I'm not sure whats been updated or changed.

The wave started life like this as in the post above Pad C3

I had a mess about with the auto select for finding a loop with Awave and Seamless looper – these are the results from an automatic search from the two.
Zero-X seamless looper (latest version) in auto with a larger loop setting required gave me several choices in about 1.5 seconds, of those this was the best

http://dspevo.com/DoW/Pad1C347.wav
With cross fade added, a small selection but quite heavy gave this result (you have to manually move the cross fade bars to get a better result)

http://dspevo.com/DoW/Pad1C347XF.wav
Awave Studio 9.3 (latest, latest update) took nine minuets to find this loop automatically (no way to influence the automatic settings)

http://dspevo.com/DoW/PadC3AwaveAuto.wav
And in auto with the option for Cross Fade took another nine minuets to give this result

http://dspevo.com/DoW/PadC3AwaveAutoXF.wav
Neither are perfect, but of the two zero-x gives the better performance, and has a good option to influence the auto settings = better results
The best way would be to select a good part of the wave in zero-x and then get it to auto search that, using judicious settings you will have a pretty good chance of finding a loop with a minimal amount of cross fading on more complex material. Awave you would still be at it.
Detecting the pitch in the sample,
Seamless looper gives a result of C2
Awave Studio gives a result of C1

I have to say its better now than it was - my latest play about with it, well its pretty impressive over things many times the price.Lovesign wrote:I've been using Seamless Looper for some while now and apart from a rare occasion or two, it finds perfect loops every time. I've created pads, basses, leads and all other sorts of sounds using it with no problem at all. At worst, I sometimes have to tweak a loop point or use a touch of crossfade in my S6000 to clean things up, but other than that I can't sing it's praises highly enough.
Are you using the latest full version or a demo ?
As Mikael said, the forum is a good place to ask. Peter (the developer) is always quick to reply.
Stick with it though, it's a great bit of software and at about a tenth the price of the MAC only "Infinity" by Antares.
If you like, post a link to the sound you are trying to loop and I'll run it through my set up to see if it's the sound or the software not coping.

just be sure to record complex stuff long enough, listen cearfully before record, to choose the length, try record without the modulations and FX, and seamless looper will find a nice loop for you somewhere along the way,but the math can take long depending on processor power.. crop that loop to make the sample shorter (if you want), and then add your own enveloppe or LFo's etc...as close as the original works for me.

Yep! Much improved Smart
These are the screen shots for the selections
Zero-X auto settings for the full sample

This is the results it gave in a select list that can then be previewed, with the above setting

This is the cross fade option window and its settings,

Then Awave Studios auto window – no option to change the auto settings other than those listed.

No alternative options given after the auto search had finished.
