Sounds like fun. Maybe next month?Markleford wrote:Actually, seeing as how this month is my 3 year anniversary for never having missed a KVR contest, I should put up all the combined project files and have Markleford Mashup Month!Barnadine wrote:Is the esteemed Mr Friedman in the mood for an alternative contest this month?
Too bad I hadn't planned ahead for that and got the files together!![]()

Composed for the contest is in the "should be" category. I've only been participating in the contests 2 months and already I've seen several entries that were dubiously "composed for the competition" and several that were admitted by the artists as "just something I was working on" that got adapted.knockman wrote:i would, but it'd be in contravention of the contest rules; it wasn't composed for the contest...emdot_ambient wrote:Enter it. I'll give you a #1 right off the bat for that. But bring the drums up higher in the mix.knockman wrote:according to the demographics, it should sound
something like this
Anyway, it was funny but perhaps a little too advanced for what gets passed as pop music today. And it doesn't have enough anger. Put a lot of tits in the video and that might not matter.

You(tm) That song is cool
Has a very -wearing sunglasses, cruising down a sunny dusty 2 lane road, a ladies scarf trailing in the wind - we are trying to sell financial freedom banking commercial feel. (
) I like it

VitD, ugh trance again?!
I couldn't resist, sorry
I like this song, especially the opening groove: very chipper, polished sound that seemed to communicate ribbons of color drawn across the screen linking people as the voice explains to me how the new wireless network will bring my whole life together making it simpler, more vibrant and cheaper! nice
I don't know the trance scene well enough to know if it is "label" kind of stuff, so I thought about the commercial potential.

Peppy197, not sure how the tune fits the theme (well, of course that would be my interpretation of the theme which is probably going to change 9 times this month,) but I dig the funky drums: not so much the effect (which is fine) but just the groove. Bring 'em up, show the world! Nice.
that's all for now. Working up, as you see.

cheers, Hovmod! thanks for the nice words!Hovmod wrote:Wopelka, love your song. I was working on a hip hop number, complete with lyrics and all ('K to the V to the R'), but it completely died next to yours.
(just for future reference - did a lot of girls magically appear by your swimming pool after you made that one?)
note to oneself: never let the girls magically disappear the morning after with all the hard-earned royalties (the hangover isn't gone, tho)

Its not thematic to the month cause none of my stuff would "sell" anyway.ouroboros wrote:Peppy197, not sure how the tune fits the theme....

You're thinking about this all wrong. You're supposed to answer something like:peppy197 wrote:Its not thematic to the month cause none of my stuff would "sell" anyway.ouroboros wrote:Peppy197, not sure how the tune fits the theme....
"It is thematic because this song is going to be the signature song of The Next Big Thing™, the musical craze that sweeps the world with me at the forefront. Yes, me leading the way out of corrupt and puerile darkness. Me showing the world how pop music can be saved from it's own putrefying self. ME destroying all forms of corporate bottom-line money grubbing drivel that DARES to stand in my way. ME taking my rightful and deserved place as a world leader, nay, a FORCE UNTO MYSELF. ME! ME! ME! And it all starts with this one little song. Oh, I know, you can't see it happening, not you, one of the little people, one the lambs who follow blindly where the Evil Music Empire leads you. But when my record contract comes and I soar into the heavens of universal stardom you will say to yourself, 'Yes. Of course. How could I have been so blind. It was so obvious from the start.' And I will grin down upon you and nod a knowing nod, for I will have brought you the light of understanding. This IS thematic, for it IS WHAT WILL BE!"

Then you obviously haven't been watching enough "Where are they now?" shows. For every one of the people in that picture, there are thousands more who have been eaten alive and spit out by the Evil Music Empire, grist to their mill.AndreasE wrote:I do have this wish (51 years old)!Sepheritoh wrote:For the 45 year olds amongst us who have no record label wishes
