Hello all,

I have ST2XL and SS2 and I just picked up a new MIDI controller. So, I started creating some child presets with MIDI cc assignments. I can do this no problem in ST2XL.

In SS2, I click on the Save button (under part preset), give it a name and click the OK button. No saving occurs. No child preset is created.

I thought maybe this was a SS2 problem, so I moved my SS2 sounds to the ST folder. Same deal - I can save child presets for ST2XL sounds, but can't for SS2 sounds.

Anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong?

Much appreciated
-Mike

To be more specific, I load the parent drum sound 006 IMap Leah Kit, make some changes to MIDI cc assignments, then click Save (under User Preset), name the child preset, and click OK. No child preset is created.

1) Are you using the ST2 plugin (using SS2 as an expander) or the SS2 plugin?

2) Do you have Sonic Synth (the original)?

Try saving the child preset using the Sonik Synth 2 plugin.

Kim,

I'm using the ST2 plug-in (to play SS2 sounds). I don't have the original Sonik Synth plug-in (I only have the full version of SS2).

Before I moved my SS2 sounds to the ST2 folder, I tried saving the child preset in SS2. Same situation - it would not save the child preset. This is what prompted me to move the sounds; I thought it might be a SS2 bug that was preventing me from saving the child preset.

Hmm. Ok, try these:

Try pressing "relist" twice, perhaps the instrument database is incomplete.

Also check that you've got plenty of disk space on your hard drive - sometimes strange things can happen if you're close to running out of disk space (not an ST2 problem, but in general).

Make sure that your child preset has a unique name (make sure the name isn't already used).

Make sure you're actually saving a child preset - not a combi preset.

Hope that helps.

Forever,

Kim.

I tried clicking Relist twice - no effect. I have over 100GB available and I made sure the child preset name was uniquely named. No dice.

Any other ideas? Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks,
Mike

BTW, I'm using a Mac G5, Dual 2 Ghz, 1.5 GB RAM, Panther OSX 10.3.9, latest Sampletank 2.0.9, Logic 7.0.1.

That sounds really odd. Contact IK tech support (use the link in your private user area - it'll give you higher priority) and they'll contact you via email and walk through the problem with you.

Phoenix,

I can't visualise the GUI in my head but there are two save buttons on the gui...

I remember I had that problem once and then I realised I was pressing the wrong save button.

See if that helps.

Ok...went to IK's site.

There are actually three save buttons...

1. Next to MIDI CTRL
2. By User presets.
3. Below user presets next to Search...use that one.

Scant,

I tried the Save button next to Search, nothing happened. I am able to save a child preset of a ST2 sound using the save button by User Preset (opens Save Preset dialog), but unable to save a child preset of SS2 this way (opens Save Preset dialog, but does nothing when you click OK). The manual says to use the save button next to Save Preset.

Next step is IK multimedia tech support.

Did you found a solution for not be able to save child presets? I'm having the same problem here.

Thanks,

Bas,

No - IK multimedia tech support said it is a known issue and will be fixed in an forthcoming update.

Thanks Mike!

Guess, we have to wait a bit then...

This is the "save" button on the right under "part preset" within SS2, right ? I just tried that today and although it spent quite a while "gurgling" it did work. I'm guessing the time was spent rebuilding the sounds list - like it does when you first install and locate the sounds folder. I'm on Windows XP if that makes a difference.
