Elevayta's Space Boy does something similar: when two audio tracks (or VSTi outputs) create mud in a mix, because they share frequencies, you can have SpaceBoy automatically reduce the volume of the common frequencies of one output whenever there's an overlap.

can you describe the procedure to do sidechain compression in a vst host like cubase sx, with vst compressor?

do a search in the KvR forum, someone posted a tutorial vid on sidechain compression in SX - or just give SpaceBoy a go, as that is pretty easy to set up in comparison.

Not saying your wrong, but that sounds like 'frequency concious compression' which is not sidechaining, its compression similar to multiband, but only 'monoband' if you understand that. Plz explain how it works exactly cuz sounds interesting

I think of it as sidechain EQing...
