I do have this wish (51 years old)!
Then you obviously haven't been watching enough "Where are they now?" shows. For every one of the people in that picture, there are thousands more who have been eaten alive and spit out by the Evil Music Empire, grist to their mill.

Major Recording Deal = Slavery and Early (destitute) Retirement

VitaminD, that's one of the best 2-minute trance tracks I've ever heard.
Either you are improving, or the whole trance thing is growing on me. Great entry. Wouldn't be surprised if this got you some votes.

Cheers.

I couldn't resist, sorry :hihi: I like this song, especially the opening groove: very chipper, polished sound that seemed to communicate ribbons of color drawn across the screen linking people as the voice explains to me how the new wireless network will bring my whole life together making it simpler, more vibrant and cheaper! nice :)
I don't know the trance scene well enough to know if it is "label" kind of stuff, so I thought about the commercial potential.
:hihi: yes, yes, trance again :P

glad you enjoyed it.. :hihi: wireless network commercial? :o "can you hear me now??? GOOOD!@#!@#" :hihi: Its very hard to squeeze all the feeling flow and buildup into just 2 minutes.. I easily could have gone on another 2 or 3 minutes. (a rarity for me)

I have to say that I'm glad phz chose this 'topic' for the contest this month.. it forced me to try a bit more than I normally do :P

:o

wow thanks, Hovmod! comments like that are the best I could hope for. between yours and ouros comments, I'm done for this month.. I mean I feel like I've won even if I'm still at the bottom of the pile vote wise.

hmm.. but I think its the net result of a lot of things:

1) I dug quite a bit deeper than I normally do for these contests
2) I stayed focused and kept working on the song all day (normally I get about half way done then get up - which leads to comments like 'starts off good then fades at the end')
3) I think I am improving.. slowly.. barely.. maybe.

ermm but you must give in to the trance, hovmod. the trance is calling YOU!!! your eyes are getting heavyyy.. when you wake up.. you will don your glowsticks and whistle.. resistance is futile :o

:hihi: :P

nailed my rag to the door, so to speak. just a matter of sitting at home now, waiting for the inevitable phone call from one of the majors. not sure who i'll sign with just yet, i'll probably play them off against one and other to get the best deal.

also, if any theatrical agents are listening in, you'll notice i can do a fairly good pirate impression, so i'd also consider any panto offers. don't hesitate to get in touch.

Um . . . yeah, that one too.

What good has fame ever done anyone? As long as you've got riches, then the hookers are a cinch. Hmm, let's see, try pimping. That'll make you cash tax free, plus avail you to all the chicks you wanna buy. Plus the job hazards aren't so insidious. Yeah, you might get killed/arrested/diseases but at least you know about all those threats. It's hard to look into the face of a major record label waving fists full o' dough at you and be reminded of the very real perils of the music industry.

Oh, yeah, the    were implied. Didn't miss them. But I did forget to put them in my post so to set the record straight. . .

A recent example I recall with fondness still is Markleford's "Please don't let the Sleekmonth Win", where, among other things, he had 18 very short samples of Sleekie's songs.

So whatever happened to Sleekmonth? :D

Well perhaps that was more "collage" than mashup. I believe pure mashups/bootlegs tend to be the overlapping of two songs, moreso. (I do personally know the "godfather of mashups", according to some citations: Evolution Control Committee, anyone?)

Last I heard, he was aggressively pursuing more soundtrack work. Still pops in now and then (particularly for guitar threads! Techmark product placement, anyone?), but not so much in the contests unless he has time...
