I just got my Kontakt2 upgrade last week and i'm now tryin to use it to control my samples in Cubase3 rather than just put them in their own audio tracks...i'd like to be able to play the samples across my keyboard...however...with samples i play in kontakt2 the samples seem slightly slowed...even when i'm just playing the root note...compared to the original sample in Cubase audio channel...the loops are no longer fitting...it's kinda like the last 10% of the loop is getting cut off...how is this happening and how can i fix it...?

Have you checked latency?

my latency for cubase is set at 20ms...which is inaudable to the human ear..the loop starts quite last and doesn't finish...i know what u mean...unless there is an INTERNAL Kontakt2 latency setting?

There seems to be a problem with importing loop points in Kontakt 2 I found when importing akai cd's

ok...i've done a lot of messing around with latency...dropped it to 5ms in Cubase with ZERO results....its' not just starting late...it's basically playing the entire sample too slow....it's like my song is 136bpm but the sample is bein played back at 120

Sounds like 2 possible things, either your not using the Asio Drivers From your card in Cubase or the sample rate doesn't match between your card and Cubase, but I'm leaning toward the Asio part. Not hearing the difference between 20ms and 5ms should point out the obvious.

in cubase i AM using the e-mu asio driver....i have like 30 other vsts that all work fine with no latency...all of komplete2/stylus rmx/atmosphere/vstation....for asio driver choices my choices are asio directX, asio multimedia, emu asio(X), remote asio, Xstation asio....i use the emu asio driver....i'll try and investigate this sample rate thing...but like i said...theres no problem when i sample is loaded directly into cubase...the problem is just between kontakt2 and cubase....

Are you using the time machine or any sort of synthesized playback inside of Kontakt 2? If so, check your "Master Kontrol" box to see if the tempo between Cubase and Kontakt II is being shared correctly.

i have kontakt2 open and all i did was double click on my .wav sample to pull it into a gereric box or whatever...the bpm displayed is synced at 136...and i tried setting it manually to 136....with the same problem

Does the pitch of the loop change when you play it from different keys? If so, you do NOT want this for a loop. You don't want keyboard tracking enabled in Kontakt for your loop or it will affect the playback speed and pitch.

fizbin can you explain that a little more....even when i play the loop in it's native key...i have this problem...but what ur saying might be my problem...so i will try using a loop from a different sample library...right now i'm working with 3 from the same one...would running the loop through recycle and making it a REX help at all?

That really sounds like a sample rate mismatch to me. But I'm not sure why that would happen...are the samples originally at a different sample rate than the Cubase Project? You could try resampling the wave to match, see if it still happens. There's also "restore sample loop" in Kontakt Mapping Editor menu.

Post

ok...i tried that and i read through my manual pdf again...it seems to me...that what happens...is that kontakt2 plays the sample in it's original bpm...like no matter what...so if the sample was in 120bpm it plays it at 120bpm...even though it's synced to my host at 136bpm....i'm gonna try reinstalling the 2.01 update again to see if this was resolved....***i've finally found a workaround to the problem...if i load the sample into cubase and export just the loop as a wav at the bpm of the track i'm working on...making THAT samples native bpm the same as my tracks i can THEN run it in kontakt2 correctly...i'm not sure why but in the sample editor kontakt2 seems to list the sample in TIME rather than beats for adjusting...like my sample was 2 seconds and with the increased bpm the new time is 1.76 seconds....am i supposed to load a sample INTO a specific instrument for it to work better rather than just double click on a wav file?

Hmmm...are you adjusting the "Speed" knob when you open the loop in Kontakt? Kontakt has a weird method of syncing loops, where you have to switch to "Time Machine" mode, then you have to select the "WHOLE" note from the drop-down menu, next to the "Speed" knob - this switches it to being stretched in Tempo-Sync.
