I don't like all of his albums, but some of them are really interesting. Their 'Nail' album was a classic, similar in some respects to Einsturzende Neubauten. And his latest album 'Flow' was also very good, with that mixture of industrial, baroque, orchestral music, and what else?
anyone here likes Foetus' music?
I tell this because this month it's going to be released their new album, 'Love'. I've read it's very good.
well that's all, just some info for who's interested.

I used to be into Foetus back in the 80s but haven't listened to his stuff since...

Loved Foetus' stuff from 'Deaf' and 'Ache' all the way up to 'Thaw' (which, along with 'Nail' is his strongest work) in '88. Last thing he did that I though was up to his standard was the Butterfly Potion EP in 1990. Since then I find he's lost his midas touch to a degree, though the Manorexia stuff is interesting.
His guest appearances with Nurse With Wound were always interesting (most notably the Brainticket-inspired 'Brained by Falling Masonry'), and the Come LP 'I'm Jack' with William Bennett (of Whitehouse) is worth a listen - prefigures a lot of the more free-form sludgecore/drone stuff of nowadays.

Nail is my absolute, all-time favourite album. The man is a f**king genius! As dystonia-ek says, he's kind of lost it these days although his lyrics are still awesome. The live album, Male, is really good too.

My deceased ex interviewed him for Seconds magazine years ago:

FOETUS: "He wrote his epitaph everyday."

I had forgotten that one - live, Jim's definitely a force to be reckoned with. 'Rife' is pretty good too.BONES wrote:The live album, Male, is really good too.
Some of his best tracks were singles though - 'Ramrod' was the ultimate Stravinsky-Neubauten-AC/DC mashup from hell, just one massive, anthemic, adrenaline-fuelled 'f**k you!'... I have a soft spot for 'Bedrock' and Wiseblood's 'Motorslug' too... all great stuff. He was, in his prime, the greatest rock'n'roll lyricist ever.

Yes I also think Nail is their best album. Hole is not bad either, as well as Ache. I found Thaw quite mediocre though, but Flow was a return to his best in my opinion. Let's hope the new album is good.
