Added some wave screen shots so you can see the loop points too - big difference
All we need now is the perfect loop - what makes a perfect loop? Or better yet, what ‘defines’ the perfect loop?

Wow, thanks for the info! I'll work on this more tomorrow and apply your technique to other samples.

Here's the same sample looped here on an S5000 with Infinity. Took about a minute
http://www.hollowsun.com/PadC3HS.wav
You might need to actually download it and play it in something that can play loops

I have to say that this software is very good, I'm in the middle of a sample cd, and it's been the best way of finding loops quickly. Now all I have to do is find my registration details so I can get the update lol

And a screenshot of your wave

Is this an auto setting in infinity? if it is, its very good.

No - I set the loop points in my S5000 to where I thought it looked/sounded good then transferred it to Infinity (via ak.Sys) and applied a crossfade loop.Is this an auto setting in infinity? if it is, its very good.
Standard practice here.

Cool, it was looking and sounding too good to be true to be auto everythinghollowsun wrote:

I'm still having some trouble with this software. It's very frustrating considering I can find loops by ear more easily.. I tried a lot of different settings but had no luck making a usable loop (massive click/phase problems). There must be something I am doing wrong here.

Infinity is Mac os9 only which is pretty slack of antares...so i decided to buy Seamless looper for our win machine, and its been great...not *as* good Infinity (which reminds me a lot of the cool looping tools in the ensoniq ASR-10) but its been doing a fine job

Not porting Infinity to OSX is a real let down. Antares seems not to care about it. I think they are over looking a market that does exist. Porting it to OSX and selling it for $99-149 would make total sense. I've been using Infinity since it came out and I sometimes boot into OS9, just for that. Too bad it will not work in classic, at least for me.
If there are any Infinity users reading this, please drop an email to Antares so that they can see that people want this ported. Maybe we are just a few... not sure.

I may be wrong but with today's "bloatware" samplers, where it is easier to just have a long, single, unlooped sample that plays longer than would feasibly be necessary during a performance, looping is now considered almost unecessary.
The argument goes along the lines of...."Why spend a few "precious" minutes creating a seamless loop when I can just sample a note for a long time, seeing as my soft sampler has a capacity of 200GB on my HD"
These creations have no need to be efficient anymore, so people are just being lazy.
Therefore, tools like Infinity and SL are sadly not as in demand as usual, hence the lack of development
That's my understanding of it anyway
