yeah right mate -- them Kiwis always denying the obvious. Bet you're going to tell me it's 'Winter' there now and stuff... Same as them silly-arsed Aussies telling everyone that kangaroos are real...System ERA wrote:No S on sheeps, um plural I think its called! hahah

Quick reviews, page one:
AndreasE - Melrock
I like the glassy plucked string note opening, and the bouncy synth makes me expect something's going to happen. The introduction of the second theme is a little low and weak to really get the juices flowing, but I get your point... I like this. Just wish it was louder. More insdustrial. More Rammstein. The second time the "action-theme" comes in, there's almost a click, or you're too late with the flying faders or something - it sounds like an automation mistake. Hope that wasn't a planned effect... I don't like that you fade out, otherwise I like your song. Good effort.
Farlukar - OTIFTM
Organic droney trance this month - an attampt at dethroning VitD?
I like the sounds, like the groove, like the energy. It dissolves a bit fast, but two minutes is a little short for Trance...
Paulie Phonic v. John Cage
You(tm) - Athens
Aww - darn. So beautiful. And it's a proper song, too. Fits the two minute format nicely.
Lovely tune. I've heard worse demo tapes...
DJ Wopelka
I've already told you I think this is great stuff. Laid-back groovy with French lyrics? Works even without the ethnic soup you normally get from Paris or Marseilles (which is often pretty good, too).
Should place high.
Donkey Tugger - Timberlake
Hilarious. Brilliant. Can you PLEASE make a video to go with this? Pretty please?
Peppy197 - Power Peanuts
This is a little strange. I don't know really where you're going with this. The piano is cool sounding and aggressive and the melody is actually quite haunting, while the beats and the other sounds paint some kind of atmosphere around it. I like it, but don't really know why.
I think I should listen a few more times to this. I'm not sure which major label you're aiming at
VitaminD - Midnight is a destination
Again, I've already let you know I think this is good stuff. Very clean and transparent without being too predictable. And like you said, you follow through. You take it down into the swirly B-theme nicely, and then it's back to business. If you had ended it properly I'd have placed this one high.
Seus Hawkins - Suicide Booth
Cool organ, weird song. I'm not sure what to think. Suicide Booth - like in that Kurt Vonnegut book? I didn't find the groove or the point. There's an eerie undercurrent here, but not eerie enough to scare me. Good thing it's early on. I get to hear it a few more times before voting time...
Knockman - The Contract
The words are excellent. Man, you can write. The song is dense and hard to like instantly, which is probably good. I've heard it a few times now, and it's really growing on me. Good stuff again. Won't get heavy rotation on my local hit station.
...xander - Slow Down Jackie
Big band? The drums (especially the ride) are a little too far forward and the vocals are swamped in reverb and pushed back. So it doesn't sound convincingly like a band. But there's a great effort behind this, and the words are cool - albeit a little cliché. And the attitude, with a whole story. I hope your dreams come true. Sounds like you *just* made the two minute mark, hey?
TristezaOrange - Coastal Town
The first organ theme sharpens the senses, but the follow up doesn't deliver. You take it down where I expect a bang. And then it turns into an experimental thing, which really sounds kind of cool, but which kind of crashes with my initial hopes, so I have to listen several times to enjoy it. Which probably isn't the best idea if you're making a demo tape. I like the use of horns over the organ, though. It's nice and bouncy and friendly. Cool, but not my number one this time.
Khepira - Let Yourself Be Free
Make That Money! This is professional sounding, you hear? I love the crazy panning action on the female vocals, that sounds coooool in my headphones. Great sounding little ditty that would do well in some clubs, I suppose. Surprisingly, this might very well make my shortlist. I have a flag on this one.

just wondering what you mean by a proper ending?
much of the trance I've experienced has ended with a steady 4/4 beat as to better mix it into the next song in a set.. just following with commercial conventions..

I don't give a rat's ass about mix tapes and DJ sessions. I like a song to have a beginning, a middle and an end. And when it's over I want it to be over, not idle to let another one take over
What I meant was that your song just sort of falls apart all of a sudden...
Edit: that sounded too harsh. I like your song, dammit.

Man, I hate this free-for-all things, because my mind struggles with coming up with anything when I don't have a clear topic to challenge myself with.
Anyone...give me a good theme for a song...PLEASE...
