not bad.. but not as nice as mine...
:P
Whoa!!! That is one inspiring setup he's got going on there! Hell, put a beer fridge somewhere in the corner, and I swear, I could spend the rest of my days in there (given the chance that is :( )...

And all this time I thought my couple of lava lamps atop my near-fields were inspiring... bahhh...

Good point there!

I'm amazed they still get even mentioned. The few hits they had were pure examples of kitsch. On the irritating audio pollution scale they rank up there with the likes of Modern Talking, Enya and indeed the Macarena :hihi:

and whats wrong with kitsch may I ask?
Not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good

You must be perverse! Really.

I could not get any orgasm, if there are monks singing in the background ... :scared:

And i usually prefer to move (medium) quickly, if I have sex...

And I also don't turn off the light! Why, to f**k?

Althought, deep breaths may I do sometimes ...

tss...
Gregiorian orgasms !? ...
You must be perverse ...

Enigma??

Isnt that trite muzak for people who spend all their money on crystals and new age rubbish without actually investigating why they do that sort of thing??

f**king horrible - kind of like jive bunny: getting good music and they creating bland sludge out of it

If you like listening to kitschy music, good for you. I won't stop you :D

I mean it's kitschy in the sense that it's like a very watered down version of the real stuff, like a Van Goghpainting printed on a plastic placemat. Everything they do has been done before and better.
(and what puzzles me is that apparantly they carved a name for themselves. So the question in itself is quite interesting: How the f**k DID they get so famous with such boring unimaginative music ? I think the awnser lies in the suggested combination of sex, religion without really saying anything, set to a simple beat, so a lot of shallow people can recognize something in it :hihi: )

If you collect plastic placemats you might like a Van Goghplacemat. But with so many good music in the world I wouldn't waste my time on B-category stuff like Enigma.

No monks and I can't get off properly. It's true. How about other readers?

I think most of this criticism would be fair in general, except the first album was actually good IMO. It was accessable, and that shouldnt be a crime, not everything of worth has to be esoteric and unknown or unlikeable to the massess. For me the first album worked and was good pop music with a difference.

Even though I dont think the same of the following albums, I give credit to the guy. At least he isnt a boy band or shitty pretentious indie group. Even though I dont like the rest of his music, its nice that something different can do well and sell shit loads.

Quick FYI: they're still in Frontline Assembly....actually Rhys Fulber rejoined Bill Leeb again for both Delerium as well as the latest FLA album. :)

Unfortunately for those who don't like Enigma, this music did a true revolution in music. And I'm not a fan. Instead I'm just surprised people like us, musicians, are denying this. Some of the pieces are of good quality. Definately not kitsch. And regarding the mixture of sex and religion, it was indeed a very inspired solution for bringing a new direction in world's music. My respect for Cretu. Maybe you should give another listen to this music.
Cheers.

While I'm not really a fan per se of Enigma myself, I don't honestly have anything against the music either...it's just not something I'd go out of my way to listen to again. ;)

But I have noticed that it does seem to be a favorite of middle-age suburban "soccer-mom" types who want to consider themselves "still listening to 'hip' music", so I guess it's at least a step up from the usual Michael Bolton and Kenny G style smooth-jizz such people seem to prefer... :hihi:

that's one f*cking gorgeous setup though.

Kind regards

Dave Rich.
