Better - or - Worse?

New site layout - tons to do yet - but just wanted to get an idea - does it make you puke - or go - umm! Bright - but I can now read it

its easier to read, so its better in that respect.
But it seems to lack the coherence of the old site.
The contrast between the black boxes and the white background seems too stark.

The navigation links are cool with the rollover images.
A step in the right direction, but needs a little fine tuning imho.

tbh i didn't much like the look of the old one either.. all the parts on it were a little too 'big' and it was all smoothed over a bit too much. if that makes sense...

but there are a number of things i don't really like about this one:

the AudioShot logo at the top is too dark, and just sort of disappears at the top looking lost

the colourscheme of the menus doesn't fit with anything else!

i just had a little tinker with the css for a laugh to make some of the colours more in line with the logo.. feel free to completely ignore this of course! tinkered css file

I moved the poll box into the main sample section - plus made it a lot lot lighter green - not too bad not

forgive me if I sound too harsh... but:
The colours definately need some work. Try picking colours off a painting you like or a comic or something - or use neutral colors or pick some out of a mambo template - btw. you probably want to change the fav.icon to something else than the mambo-one...
The edges on the logo and byline are too fuzzy - could need some cleaning up. If you made the logo all white and got rid of the fancy shadow stuff, and used a nice clean font for the byline "samples x hosting x"
Personally I don't like the image in the menus, but that's really a matter of personal taste - and I really can't complain it is afterall your website - and a great one it is - content wise at least.

fits with white, white goes with black - black goes with red and yellow and green - so does white

OK, but they do match a colour scheam, reds, greens, blues, yellows - in hex they fit. I think its a matter of taste

I will - but your input is important as it helps me get an idea of how some will take the layout - with the old site many could not read it coz it was too dark - once I done the images and finish pushing the borders it should be ok - might change the top logo to white - or - yellow

I agree with ohm's assesment of the logo too

that's much better - the magenta type colour didn't go with the dark green/yellow colours.

although the lighter menu text is very difficult to read now on the pale background looking sharp already tho, and it's definitely an improvement on the old look

Much much better, I gone total pastle over total heavy contrast - and it looks like its heading in the right direction now

Yep! been snapping away here - bits of headphones, mixing desks, mics etc. I just got to alter them all now to fit with the lighter colours. I will make the site sections look like that of the one shots section, but with all different images etc

Rendering the home page on Mozilla Firefox: if I enlarge the font, the buttons on the left remain the same size, so the text bleeds from one button to the next.

left-hand menus too wide. green on pale-blue doesnt look right. menu dividers (eg 'web hosting') too dark compared to the menu items themselves.
