Has anyone tried these 2 verbs side by side?

If so... which one do you like more?

I tried both and for me r66 is the winner (very smooth and warm sound). AAR is not bad but r66 is full of character and it can do other things like chorus.

I tried both demos. I found AAR has the better interface and therefore it was quicker to get to the results I wanted. Soundwise R66 and AAR excellent. I prefered R66 on some sources and AAR on others. Maybe R66 has more character than AAR, but that can be a + or a - depending on the situation and the sound you aim at. Overall both seem highly usable. Considered the price difference I would go with the cheaper and more flexible AAR.

Ups, sry for that. Have they changed their pricing recently? Because it was almost twice that when it initialy came out. $149 is a very competitive price!

not surprised they dropped the price, it was (imho) a tad expensive although it sounded nice from my cursory examination of it.
At the new price point it's definately more of a contender, might give the demo another shot now.

I hear the W2 is good but my only concern is that it uses way more cpu... kind of like the way Ambience uses cpu.

Personally, I A/B'd Ambience with the R66 and I like the R66 a tad more. Less grainy or noisy if that makes any sense.

AAR has no PACE or challenge/response to screw you over with. Don't buy anything that requires the continued existance of a dot.com to enable your continued use of their product ...

The other one is infinitely more versatile, not to mention delivers better results. The other one is R66, which delivers something magical every now and then but is in no way serious competition for the other one.

And these PACE whiners could give it a rest already, it's like every other thread now... start your own PACE complaining threads - or how about getting a life
