Just 2 years after I buy my Pod Pro they come out with the Pod Pro XT, and you'd think there was some kinda expansion pack or something the old Pod Pro users could purchase for less than the cost of the whole dam unit to reap the benefits but nope, line6's response is "the Pod ProXT is totally different from the Pod Pro." Oh yes I see, well that's true, the Pod ProXT is designed for direct recording and live performance, and actually re-creates the tones of many famouse amplifiers...oh wait the Pod Pro does that too!hmmm- oh I know, the Pod ProXT is red and fits on a rack using 2 slots. Then I come to find out the single most disturbing thing about the original POD pro- YOU CAN ONLY USE ONE EFFECT AT A TIME!!!What the hell is that? Come on guys!!! Dude even my freakin $100 ZOOM pedal can use several effects at once!! The Pod Pro has a built in compressor but you can't use it with any effect other than delay- ??Can somebody explain why?? Is it so they can say "Hey for another $600 you can buy the POD again!! and this time you can get all the fx features of older effects processors that cost much less for example; now you can use 6 effects at once with the POD PRO XT!" Wow that's really cutting edge, sorry I'm bitter I shoulda got something different or waited for the Pod ProXT

You are still pissed off about the limitations of your old Pod after 2 years? Or you just found out about the ProXT that's been out over a year, and think somehow they should be able to update your old gear to the newest version?
Or what, again?
Why dont you post this over at Channel6-I'm sure you'll get some interesting responses...

The reason you can't update isn't a software limitation, it's a hardware limitation. To put it simply, the guts of your old Pod Pro aren't at all the same as what's in a newer Pod Pro XT.
And for the record, Line 6 has been great about updates. I own a Vetta II myself, so I know what I'm talking about.
For those not in the know, the original Vetta was a $1,700 modeling amp with 40 some odd amp models with a couple cool features like the ability to run 2 amp models at once. Line 6 then decided it was time to make a new Vetta with 72 amps and dozens of new effects and features. Not to mention a total revoicing of the entire amp which made it closer in sound to their new (At the time) HD147. Since no actual hardware had changed the upgrade was completely free to all Vetta I owners.
Not to mention the model packs. You realize that for $400 you can get a Pod XT loaded with all 72 amp models I've got in my $1,700 Vetta II? That's a sweet deal any way you slice it.
Your particular product was different. As I said, the hardware had to be changed in order to make the modeling engine more powerful. It's unfortunate, but it happens. Some day there will be a new Line 6 amp that makes my Vetta II obsolete. It'll hurt a little, but I'll get over it (The new amp sitting in my studio will help ease my pain

Just buy a decent effect rack for your Pod and your in business. The effects in the POD suck anyhow (the amp sims are ok)... Even an old quadraverb is an upgrade over the PODs effects.

I just found out I can only use 1 effect in my POD at a time, I used to compress in Cubase after adding POD FX when I was really green, now I've learned it's better to compress first then add FX so if I compress in Pod Pro and then add FX in Cubase all the other POD FX (aside from Delay which I don't use really) are useless unless I use POD as an FX loop then I loose resolution and have to burn to track twice etc- sounds like a hassle.Aural Chaos wrote:You are still pissed off about the limitations of your old Pod after 2 years? Personally I think its your own fault for not waiting for five years just in case they brought out something newer and better.

I'm with Rabbyt, I'm holding off on making any purchases right now, because I hear there's better stuff coming out in a year or two.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

In all seriousness, people do need to buy gear for what it does NOW, because that may be all it ever does (and I'm sorry to have to point it out, but this is kind of a no-brainer where hardware is concerned). I'm guilty of this kind of thinking sometimes myself. I sympathize with your frustration, but I think it's childish to portray yourself as having been "screwed over".

The J-Station has Bass and acoustic modellers as well??? Wow. I wish someone had pointed this out when I threw down $500 for my Pod! At the time, all I heard was: "POD! POD! POD!".

Man, I hate it when I buy a car one year, and 2 years later, the newer model has more features and power! How dare they!
I really wanted to 'upgrade' my Roland JV-2080 to the XV-5080. That have been no different than your situation. If you want the newer stuff, ya gotta pay. I've never 'expected' to get an 'upgrade' when it comes to a physical, tangible item like an effects processor or a keyboard.
