The mystery of the FXpansion effects

Came across a reference to the plugin pack by FXpansion from several years ago, I remember them from the wayback, but I cant' find any info on whatever happened to them. Erased from history? Sold to a corporate concern?
Search on the site is down, I'm guessing the answer is hidden in an old thread. Seemed rude to post such a stupid question in their support forum. So I post here.
Someone solve the mystery for me, please.
And while you're at it, whatever happened to Enigmatron? Dug out a copy tonight from an old backup, weird stuff. Did a google, and it appears to be only available on the Receptor now. Old thread in support forum says it just stopped. I vaguely remember d/ling back in the day, being an old VST/DX wrapper customer. Anyone care to enlighten on why it died a secret death?

Eh, nevermind. Just started clicking through the support forum, found a mention in this thread that they were discontinued in 2003 and licensed to Steinberg.
Mystery solved.
Or is it?

So anyway, anyone know why the effects were discontinued in the first place? Was it the Steiny deal? And what happened to Series Two and/or MindFX? And what of this Enigmatron?
Saw some mention of freewaring Series One in the thread from two years ago, can't imagine Steiny would care now if such a thing were done.

The FXP fx were a big deal on fxpansion's site for ages - true.
They were going to be released in 2 phases - a helping of 4, then another helping of 4 - something like that

Ok,
I don't know what happend to MindFX, I was totally looking forward to them, but now I think they might not be as cool and different as they would have been 2 years ago.
I've been told that GURU is not what Drum 9 will be.
Some of the stuff Drum 9 will have will blow the minds of many (if it gets some of features it is supposed to) There is a thread on KVR about it somewhere.
GURU is different that what I would imagine Drum9 to be.
From what I've seen of GURU it is so cool, maybe a sleeper hit, I'm not sure. For the way I make beats and layer grooves it is for sure awesome, and I have yet to find something that is easier to edit drum samples than in GURU.
That said, drum9 I look forward to, but MindFX....not so much anymore.

Wow, my first VST nostalgia!
Someday we'll all be sitting around talking about RMX like "remember that old thing?"
I suppose others have had similar moments already, but this is the first for me.

If every KVR member wrote one review a year we'd have 1340 reviews each day!

You should try going back and reading old support forum posts. Talk about a trip (VST-DX v3.0 released!!!).
Drum9 sounds big, I'm not surprised it is taking a lot of time to make.
I agree that MindFX looks less stunning by today's standards, presumably that's part of the decision to mothball them. I wonder if the effects themselves will be incorporated into Drum9?
On Series One, I wonder if there's a chance they'd be set free to the Skunkworks (nudge, nudge)?
One further question, were MindFX and Series Two the same thing?

from the way I remember it mindFX had series 1 and 2.
check this out http://www.mindfx.com/
If you're on dialup it will take forever to load, but trust me it will!

There was a first round of effects called simply "Series One", as reviewed back in the day here.dusted william wrote:from the way I remember it mindFX had series 1 and 2
I saw some old posts in the fxpansion forum referring to Series Two. Do you suppose they were later renamed MindFX Series One and Two? Or was there a Series Two and the two MindFX packs once planned?

There's a great thread topic: Your Favorite Plugin Nostalgia Moment! My first votes go to:
Prosoniq NorthPole - dated 1999 and I still use that thing!
VAZPlus - The software synth that introduced me to the concept of software synths.

I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.
