sell the old one on ebay. the old pod still goes well.
btw. j-station is horrid...even if is has some "bass patches".

Post

J-station is far too noisy to be useful for anything. A POD2 or PODxt at least are studio quality. Don't worry about the extra effects in the PODxt - they aren't as good as most freebie VST effects. Really.

That would explain why no one recommended it to me, then.

bullshit!

i don't care about j-stations noise or converter quality (ever recorded a mesa stack? THATS hiss)...but the modeling is just bad...it sound weak and doesn't fit in a mix either...same goes for about every vst amp plugin.
pod xt is far from perfect but nothing comes close to it right now IMO.

Two years is forever around here! The whole *concept* is in its infancy. Be worried when stuff like this starts *not* getting replaced by new stuff.

The POD effects aren't that bad for casual live use. It's meant for playing around. The simulated amps sound great. You some good VST's for effects. I got the POD XT Live. Came with the effects and then I bought some add-on amps that sound great and give more options.

That have been no different than your situation. If you want the newer stuff, ya gotta pay. I've never 'expected' to get an 'upgrade' when it comes to a physical, tangible item like an effects processor or a keyboard.

Devon
Ok forget the upgrade, the fact is there is no reason why Line6 couldn't have enabled the POd to use 6 effects at once the first time around. It's not like the technology wasn't available or the units were dirt cheap- I mean come on! Honestly when I bought the POD PRO I just assumed you could use whatever combination of effects at once- My fault, I read many great reviews of the POD pro and that was never mentioned as a limitation, at the time it was standard for FX processers, and if you think about it that's what POD is, an FX processor- it creats the effect of amps/environments along with traditional effects. It like they took effects to the next level but forgot include the key features they improved upon.

i agree with jens...
anyone who thinks the jstation is noisy or weak when compared to the line 6 needs to reevaluate thier hearing.

also you cant complain about future jstation support (there isnt any!) :)
my sig will go here

I'm not at all impressed by the FX in my FlextoneII... esp. now we have RetroDelay!

Indeed! Look below my posts when I joined kvr - since then I must have posted 20-30 tracks containing lots of guitar (&bass) - various musical styles have been applied. Many people commented on my good guitar-sound and asked what gear I'm using. No-one ever complaind about that the guitar doesn't fit in the mix or is sounding to hissy or something like this. All the guitar-tracks (& most of the bass-tracks) were recorded through my J-Station which I own for about four years now - nuff said!
