Does it use the same samples as before, or have new samples been created/used?

I read it has new sounds plus best of the old.

I take it that it will still be free for those of us that just acquired Sampletank 2L plus the 4CD sound expansion set from eSoundz ? :)

Saying that - how will IK know I have (the equivalent of) Sampletank 2XL when my installation of 2L has a serial number that presumably identifies it as such ?

Yes, new sounds plus the old gone through by us and IK. We made some tweaks, some cuts, some improvements and then added some more things from IK and SR that have either never been released before or are little tasters from the various ST libraries (including some that haven't even come out yet).

As for the ST2L + XL upgrade people who bought from esoundz, we'll take care of it directly with you on the sound part of the upgrade and IK will have a downloadable version of 2.1 part of the upgrade.

The important thing to know about esoundz is that we are there to make sure these things happen the right way and hassle free. You don't have to worry about such things.

Squids,

Forgive my "out-of-touch" question here (been so long since ST 2.1 was announced) but what exactly is a user like myself looking at regarding the above paragraph.

I am a faithful esoundz customer who purchased ST2 XL as an upgrade but that was in late 2004 (Nov - Dec I think). When you say you will take care of it "directly"...does it mean I will pay for the sound update...or get it gratis or what? I assume that if a customer purchased ST2 XL after a certain day - they are entitled to a free update? Can you clarify any of this for me?

Cheers,

Bruce

[quote="Squids"] It shouldn't be a free update./quote]

Very sad news ! I have ordered the Sampletank L because 2.1 (the engine) was anounced for free, and the Strech improvment was one of the things that decide me to buy Sampletank !

Some were disapointed because the sound update will not be free.
And now, we are told that we will have to pay for the engine update too !!!!

ARGHHHHHHH.......

I think Squids is implying that there will be so much value in the 2.1 update that it SHOULD be a chargable update....not that it WILL be.

ST2.1 software part of the upgrade is free for a limited time to all ST2 XL users.

The sound upgrade is $99 from IK or IK dealers who will carry it. eSoundz of course will since SR has been a big part of reworking the sound set. We'll easily be able to look up any of our ST2L or XL users and help them get it hassle free.

Anyone who bought ST2XL from esoundz since last Winter NAMM in Jan will get the sound set for free as promised (but will have to pay for just the shipping unless they just have it put in with another order that qualifies for free shipping).

Uhhhhh. I said it is so good that it "shouldn't" be a free upgrade. But, it IS in fact a free upgrade still! Don't worry. I think you may have misunderstood what I meant. I just meant it is a really good free update to the program, the engine part.
