I am happy to host entries if anyone is having difficulties finding a suitable place to upload to.

I already did that, see one of the previous pages and submissions page one. I don't think you can stream it from where I have it now, but you can download it without logging in, so that's the rules taken care of. Markleford's radio works...

The only reason I would need to join would be for the purposes of this competition - I can't see the point, especially as the submission rules are quite clear. It would be just another useless membership, and spam/privacy risk that I can well do without.

Well cool man, but just a minute here, audioshots is a great service totally anything but useless, excellent place to check out hordes of tunes,beta fx basically the same and more musos from kvr than you can shake yer cloven hoofs at, it even looks similar. No Spam ever no privacy risk nada just a good site, that until now or just recently was a perfectly reasonable source to host tunes for a kvr contest, i wasn't actually in the know that this had changed so i reckon that rates the entry as kosha,

aw heck just slag it some more if ya like what do i really care the song i posted was just a stupid joke, couldn't win anything from it, don't really wanna win anything from it just a joke . If its null and void well f**k it i couldn't giv a shit. Sorry Slart just don;t agree and you obviously don't either so lets just agree to disagree. But go and listen to the song i think you will find it funny if not then so what....

The Auditorium is cool. Great place. Unique. But direct linking and 'radios' threatened to bring it down, so he's had to resort to registered users only for downloading songs. Too bad. I'll still go there daily for great music, inspiration and an unusually friendly atmosphere.

That said, rules are rules. I don't listen to songs that Winamp won't download when I open Markleford's playlist in it either.

grotman, I think you may have missed the point. slartibartfast wasn't slagging Audioshots, he was just pointing out that he didn't feel like signing up for any more online services than he absolutely needs. I agree. I pay for my web access and presence so I plan to use it as much as possible. I've registered with so many websites, I can hardly keep track of all the logins, passwords and terms. It's not a matter of how free or how safe it is; it's just not what I need right now. I have barely enough time to keep up with what little of KvR I manage to visit, let alone another online music forum. I'll bet slartibartfast feels similar.

FWIW, The rulez are pretty clear about direct linking: "your track MUST be ... entered into the contest by posting a DIRECT link in this RULES & SUBMISIONS thread". Because some online service changes their terms midway through a competition doesn't affect these rulez. Besides, I'll be happy to host your track (or any other contestant's track) for the month if you need it. Just PM me.

I just like to add that many of us use Garret automatic downloader and i'm afraid it can only download direct link.
So if there is no direct access you lose many listeners.
