With Live 5, is making warp markers a thing of the past? Is the whole thing totally automatated now? Can I just dump all my wave files of burned vinyl in, grab one, and have it automatically warped and stretched to the right tempo of the currently playing track?

Not so hard to find... (http://www.ableton.com/index.php?main=live5tour&sub=whats-new-remix-features)State-of-the-art signal processing automatically tracks the tempo of imported songs and sets Warp Markers for you. This works well not only for electronic music but also for songs with human tempo variations.
Do or Do Not. There is no try.

Live automatically matches audio to tempo (by invisibly adding warp markers), but also allows you to manually add/change warp markers.
So far as I can tell version 5 does not change this situation, except that the function is enhanced by two additions:
1. You can now import mp3 format in addition to .wav
2. the new "complex" mode for warping takes transient recognition to the next level, and is added to the four existing modes
Both of these two additions will be of particular interest to DJs, I should think.
Hope this helps.
